Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have developed a ten-point outline for a completely self-powered solar/wind generated and "plug-in car that "pros" in the industry have told me is the "complete package. Using the direct-drive transmission of the '70s era Dutch Daf, this auto will continuously replenish its power while in operation and, even, when not in use. solor panels on the hood, trunk and roof, added to a series of six wind generators mounted within the grill and, possibly retractable will be backed up with "plug in" for overnight extra electricity. I need help with schematics. storage is via batteries under backseats, part of trunk, engine compartment and the routing utilizes step-down transformers for the basic computers that will delegate the power where needed. Please respond if interested.
What excites you about this campaign?
This car will will be totally self generating and uses proven technology. It will be highly affordable (under $14,000) and can be quickly manufactured and out in the public within two years. R & D has, essentially been done, with the exception of building a prototype. I'm broke and cannot afford to do that. However, If one would Google the '70s DAF and Citroen Dyane (Ugly Duck), you can get a bit of an idea about what some of the features are involved. I drove late '60s models of these two cars while living in Holland for 4 1/2 years during the mid-'70s. I got about 60 mpg in these two-cylinder machines. A top mechanic for Race Team Lotus called the Ugly Duck, the finest designed car ever built for common use. With hydraulic suspension, direct drive options and other features, the aire-cooled engine was about as easy to work on as a lawn mower engine. In fact, I could remove it *it was very light), take it into my home and do work on the kitchen table--only making sure that I had a newspaper underneath. The "conspiracies," myths, outright lies and greed of "the Big Three" and their marriage to Big Oil, prevented these cars from being imported into the U.S. They used "safety issues," and "pollution controls" as excuses. and, they were/are lame excuses. I recently spoke with a Dutch friend and these "ancient" autos are still all over the roads of Europe. It's pure B.S. we are getting from General Motors and Chrysler. Ford seems to be morphing into something that might be a positive step.
All the crap about "losing 6 million jobs" if Crysler and GM are not bailed out is a total crock. Somebody will need to build autos. And, they will need to hire people in the industry to work for them. Even if Ford got all the biz and the other two "midgets" went belly-up, the auto industry would thrive and, I believe, we would be better off. New concepts, Electric, bio-fuel, natural gas models, solar, and on and on and on. I want to se revolution in the industry and I want to see an immediate end to Foreign oil. Along the I 80 corridor--thru Wyoming and beyond, are endless supplies of alternative resources. And, why are there, literally millions of capped oil wells everywhere? Greedy plans went wrong. Nothing equates greed, wealth and intelligence into some sort of triangular answer. By the way, AIG got bailed out because they hold the insurance policies for the government. Check into why Samoa is the only state or territory that did not raise the minimum wage....gee, Pelosi's husband has a lot to do with the tuna industry.
What excites me most is that these "arrangements" are falling apart. for now, it's painful and most of us are hurting. But, I believe that "Big Change" will bring with it, a new and better way of living and treating Mother Earth the right way. It's going to take a massive education program, because the money changers (i.e. bankers), industry moguls (i.e. cigar chomping ignoramous greed creators) have not a clue. We are in a ship in a bottle and have run aground. The exciting thing is how we are going to break out.
What do you want to do to help?
I want to provide my ideas to folks who can aid in the schematics and processes. I'm a musician and composer, not an engineer. I know that this "plan" for the self-powered car will work. Utilizing natural elements and
existing technology, there is only one reason that this automobile is not on the road today--money. and, what is really crazy, we are not talking about serious money, except the billions that the manufacturers and new work force will reap from the jobs and the competitive nature of the "American Experiment." I, personally, think that GM and Chrysler shold be allowed to fold their tents and head out of Dodge. They have ruined the lives of millions of people with their corporate greed.
GM, Chrysler AND the Automobile unions are full of it. There is demand for low-cost, energy-efficient cars in America and around the world. If those BIG TWO go under, where are the 18 million new2 car buyers this year going to go--to Ford and the existing companies. The jobs will go to Ford....Autozone will still function. We are being sold another "Big Lie" by these folks. I am, by nature, a humble, easy-going guy. These days, I am really pissed off. Using the good o' Bush/Cheney policy of "FEAR," they are selling people a load of manure (which would be a great bio-fuel--just not the kind that they are putting out).
My dear friend, legendary European guitarist Loek Schrievers, says that
the alternative cars are all over the highways--especially where least expected--in places like Greece, Turkey (southern Europe). Smart Cars are everywhere. Loek drives a modified Citroen...totally electric. His wife drives a Fiat...totally white gas (i.e. natural gas). They can afford $9.00 a gallon for gas, but, as Loek put it, "We owe it to the planet to be responsible in our energy consumption."
I heard a great speech (before about 40 snoozing Congresspeople) the other day on CSpan. I checked the facts...they are true. The war in Iraq is about oil. If you don't agree with that premise, then the story is moot and that must be some incredible drug you are taking to distort reality. Okay, premsie accepted....over 4,000 young Americans died for oil. Kerry said that "over 2,000 would die in the Iraq war," and was laughed off the stage.
Anyway...simple equation: 1 month of no US involvement in Iraq = 4 million american children with full health coverage for one year (ages infants-6 years old), 4 months of no US involvement in Iraq = full health insurance coverage for all American children for one year. 18 months of no US involvement in Iraq = full health coverage for every man, woman and child in
America for one year.
Why did we bail out AIG (80% owned by the EU)???? I think that it might be because they handle all of the federal government's insurance. Boy, what a level playing field Gee DoubleYah Yah Sisboom Bah.
I met Dick Cheney at a birthday party in Casper, Wyoming sometime in 1990. I spoke with him for 5-10 minutes. I came away from our conversation with the impression that: a) Cheney was a total jerk, and b)
he had little or no regard for the working man or woman in this country. In a few minutes, he managed to Slander ("per se, not "per quod") anybody who opposed drilling off the shores of both coasts, ripping the soul out of Alaska
and threw in lame humor concerning "using" minorities for what they were inteded--cheap domestic labor. Of course, this was 1990...Exxon Valdez (not sure of the dates), Chernobyl (sp?), Casper, Wyoming goat Ropers B'day get t'gether at the Ramada.
I ran out of my 4000 word rant space. But, there is much more. I'll get it out--one way or 'nother.

I ran into the 4,000 word limit on my page. Ileft off, saying that, to me, it is mainly a moral question. What's going on around Sweetwater, TX, in Oklahoma and in North Dakota (not to mention China, Great Britan, Europe and many other parts of the World)? We are all in a ship in a bottle, run aground by greedy, cannibals of Big Oil, Congress, Wallstreet and "Super Liars." I said before, that I am a political "independent (small "i"). I am aware of the financial moves being made in the field of… Continue

Ah ha! Now we are getting somewhere...take existing transportation and rework it to suit the times. I like it and I have been nudging people that way for months now. It is good to wait for others to bring up my pet projects! Don't worry about the technicalities, someone else has the tools you don't have and will step in when it is right to do so. I for one have not the slightest idea what a "MIDI" setup is but I will check out your work when I have a bit more time. Sounds interesting but there are only so many things I can undertake to learn at one time.

I got the message about the car...the only thing I couldn't find in it was what kind of motor/engine it has. I am glad to know someone else has seen the potential for putting wind turbines under the hood to generate power.

I didn't get the other message, at least so far. I quess it got lost. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I do my best to be educational, not confrontational..at least not for a while yet. Sometimes I have to put it on 'stifle' to avoid the knee jerk responses some of the responses cause.

Be well. and stay in touch.

Love the DAF and Dyane stuff. The CVT feature is the same idea as my Kubota tracter which called it hydrostatic and I loved it. I learned to drive on a fluid drive Dodge, years ago, and drove a couple of Hydromatics and one Dynaflow at various times. Love the way they work.

We need to talk. I want to know more about what your concept is and where you stand on implementation.

Hi Stan, I have been pushing for the sell of US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a RE savings bond to support a renewable energy project and save money at the same time for themselves. I need help pushing this project, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already. If you agree with this plan please consider passing to other people in your district as it will be a great tool to get funding for PickensPlan projects. This is a way to help and give tools to all of us for getting more RE projects started. I believe if just one fax could make it to the Presidents desk or Vice Presidents desk (fax numbers listed on web page of course) we may have a chance he may say “make it happen” to the US Secretary of Treasury. My email is ke6cvh@yahoo.com. Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi yesterday:
27FEB09

Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.

Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.

I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. Hey Stan,

Kind offer, but PP is not looking for financial support. We only need you to share the plan, bring friends to the site, get folks to sign the petition, help put pressure on your leaders. All of this can be done without money, just lot of heart and some passion, too.

How is it going with petitions? Please join your local Congressional District.

Please stop by and let me know how it's going. How many so far?
Grateful for your help,
Kim
