Potential Bounty for North Carolina Dr. Daniel Fine

Nearly 40 years ago, when the first oil price shock from the Middle East and OPEC disrupted the American economy, North Carolina and Appalachia briefly became an oil and gas frontier. Following geological investigations, Chevron drilled an exploratory well in the Deep River Basin beneath Lee County, N.C. Oil was discovered at 5,000 feet, but it contained excessive paraffin and Chevron plugged the well.

It remains there today as a new natural gas and oil technology has emerged: the…

National Security Interests for Gas & Oil and USA's real economy consequences.

As much as I hate to say it, welcome to reality politics from both sides of the isle.  They really dont want the responsibility to enact this bill: Long term lower petroleum consumption means lower crude oil prices.  There are many special interests and businesses ongoing that the price of crude oil must be "over" $80/bbl average that NatGas Bill threatens their long term profit models.  Here folks is the real reason. Do we really want to modify our national and international interest…

5/5/12 Connect the Dots on Climate Impacts Day

Across the planet now we see ever more flood, ever more drought, ever more storms. People are dying, communities are being wrecked — the impacts we’re already witnessing from climate change are unlike anything we have seen before.

But because the globe is so big, it’s hard for most people to see that it’s all connected. That’s why, on May 5, we will Connect the Dots.

In places from drought-stricken Mongolia to flood-stricken Thailand, from fire-ravaged…

Advertising on Pickens Page

I understand the use of Pickins Page to advertize energy saving tips, ideas, and items, but I seem to get alot of E-mails from Pickins Page that are advertizing or trying to sell items that have nothing to do with the Pickins Plan.  Some people use this as a medium to sell their products even though they are not related items.  Let's leave this forum for the work it set out to do and that is to encourage and lobby for alternative energy sources so we can lessen our dependence…

Fracking: What is your response?

The 'fracking issue' needs to be addressed - addressed honestly without the lobbyist bs. We also need to address who really has a stranglehold on the American consumer and on our economic and national security. This can only be understood when we honestly analyze what all the energy we consume individually is used for and what all the energy industry consumes produces that is key to survival and the…

Gas at a national average price of $5.00/gallon by Memorial Day. Can you Dig It?

I wish it were higher...M-U-C-H higher. That's probably the ONLY sure way to get us off our lazy behinds to launch an Apollo-scale and feasible DOMESTIC renewable power program. In the meantime, keep playing with your cellphones and watching "The Bachelor" and "American Idol" on the boobtube. Everything will take care of itself...right?

Just remember....Nature bats last and ALWAYS hits a grand slam. I suggest you go watch, "Revenge of the Electric Car," and get motivated for change.…

California Air Resources Board

Hi,

I just cannot stand these high gasoline prices and I live in California. ( March 11, 2012 )

About a mile from my house at the Natural Gas Company is a natural gas fueling station that anyone can use and CNG currently costs $1.97 a gallon vs. close to $ 4.60 a gallon for gasoline here in Santa Barbara.

I have looked into converting my 1994 nissan truck into a CNG setup, but If I do it in California, the CARB will charge me will tampering with the emission…

Americans Welcome $5 A Gallon Gas

Amid all of the financial turmoil that has occurred over the last several years it is good to see that the American people are still more than willing to help out the financial elite by forking over more and more money at the gas pump. It was different as recently as 2008 when gas hit $4 a gallon. Back then people were angry and ready to fight for something. Now, after losing their retirement savings, home and good paying job or some combination thereof we must be like dogs that have…
