NPR Radio: Boone - Offshore Drilling's Payoff May Not Be Energy

This week, President Obama ended a ban on oil and gas drilling along some parts of the U.S. Atlantic coast and northern Alaska. His decision has staggered some of the president's own environmental supporters, but others say the decision is necessary to help decrease U.S. dependence on foreign oil or win bipartisan support for an energy and climate change bill. Host Scott Simon speaks with energy mogul T. Boone Pickens, who has pushed for more investment in alternative energy…

Lovelock: 'We can't save the planet' ---uh oh.... I was just going to buy an iPad and another PSP game!

Professor James Lovelock, the scientist who developed Gaia theory, has said it is too late to try and save the planet.

The man who achieved global fame for his theory that the whole earth is a single

organism now believes that we can only hope that the earth will take

care of itself in the face of completely unpredictable climate change.

Interviewed by Today presenter John Humphrys, videos of which you can see below, he

said that while…

Retrofitting Your Home for Passive Solar

Passive solar windows

Although building a passive solar home is not possible for many people, it is possible to do a passive solar retrofit on many existing homes to

incorporate this amazingly clean, low-tech, cost-effective, and

environmentally friendly way of heating. One way is to install

additional windows on the south-facing wall.

To retrofit an existing home for passive solar, then, your home must have one, outside south-facing wall with full access to the winter…

Boone........your off base on this one!!!!!

I was very disappointed to find that our leader is supporting Obama's about face on offshore drilling. It's oil that is 10 years away and as Obama said in his campaign---"we can't drill our way out of this". Our resources should continue to be used for natural gas and and renewable energy sources and infrastructure for gas and the smart grid. RePower America, one of Al Gores sites continues to be against offshore drilling. He has started a petition campaign aimed at Obama. Check out the site… Continue

are the Pickens wind turbines manufactured in the US?

I am for wind energy however I am also for jobs in the US. Does the Pickens plan require the use of wind turbines that are manufactured in the US? I hear that the wind turbines being installed by Pickens are manufactured in China and Europe. Why is money going to support workers overseas? I also hear that the plan is being massively supported by stimulus tax money. why is our tax money going overseas?
