Ending America's Dependence on OPEC Oil

Richmond Times Dispatch

10/13/10

Natural gas is one of the most abundant natural resources in America. Until recently, it was generally assumed that our supply was limited to “conventional” natural gas, which is extracted from geologic formations associated with petroleum deposits, and “coalbed methane,” which occurs in conjunction with coal deposits.

Those are the two types of natural gas found in Virginia. Over the past decade, new developments in drilling…

Crucial Senate vote looms after the elections.

Oklahoman

10/7/10

By Chris Casteel

WASHINGTON — T. Boone Pickens said Wednesday he is still optimistic Congress will pass a bill this year to boost production of heavy duty trucks that run on natural gas, and that he won't give up if the legislation fails in a postelection session.

"I'm not going to quit," Pickens told reporters at a hotel near the White House. "I'll try as hard as I can this year, and…

The Good and Bad of Green

Great Op-Ed from Georgia State Leader Sam Fleet!

"It’s not easy being Green!” – Kermit the Frog

I saw a Facebook post yesterday that expressed how clean the National Mall was after the Glenn Beck Rally. The line under the post read, “Conservative values are good for the environment.” Being as involved in the energy field as I am the word “green” is used very frequently. Green is most associated with the left wing Democratic Party. Why? We conservatives also have a deep… Continue

Pickens Calls on Obama to Promote Domestic Fuels

Bloomberg

10/6/10

By Jim Snyder

Oct. 6 (Bloomberg) -- T. Boone Pickens, the billionaire chairman of BP Capital LLC, said he has urged President Barack Obama to promote domestic fuel in a speech to the nation.

Pickens, who supports incentives to expand the use of natural gas-powered vehicles, said today that Obama should advocate the use of gas, ethanol and electric batteries as ways to wean the country from foreign oil.

“It’s a security issue for the… Continue

Pickens Is Right: U.S. Needs A National Energy Policy

The Morning Sun

T. Boone Pickens made his money in oil and finance and his reputation as a contrarian/conservative political donor.

Now he's embracing a new role: energy activist. You may have seen him talking about the "Pickens Plan" in TV commercials. He spoke about the plan over the weekend in Dallas to a conference of newspaper editorial writers from around the country.

"For 40 years, we have had no energy plan for America. We have to find a way to get by on… Continue

Thinking Big About Energy With T. Boone Pickens

By Marjorie Arons-Barron

T. Boone Pickens has made nearly $1.5 billion as an oil man, financier, corporate raider, takeover artist, and hedge fund chairman. He’s been working since he was 12 years old, when he started delivering newspapers, and, at age 82, is a larger-than-life character who has spent, he says, $70 million of his own money to advance a plan to eliminate American dependence on foreign oil.

Meeting with editorialists and editorial page editors recently in…

T. Boone Pickens Hits Oil Dependence

Hartford Courant

10/5/10

By Robyn Blumner

Author Tom Wolfe said that a liberal is a conservative who has been arrested. In the case of the political evolution of Texas oil and finance magnate T. Boone Pickens, a liberal on energy policy is a conservative who has crunched the numbers. Pickens has done the math on America's energy future and it doesn't work. Oil dependency is America's ticking time bomb. He says we need to think about wind, solar, nuclear, "anything…

CNG Information Needed

I'm working on a CNG initiative, and doing some financial analysis.

Does anyone have information on:

+ cost to convert a diesel or gas engine to CNG?

+ cost of CNG to fill a tank?

+ cost of a dispenser of CNG, in both a convenience store and a commercial/government installation (e.g. school bus, Pepsi bottler, etc.).

Thanks,

Sam McNeil
