EAST HARTFORD — - T. Boone Pickens, an oil and natural gas billionaire and financier who has spent more than $50 million promoting natural gas and wind farms, charmed a crowd at Augie and Ray's Drive In before preaching the gospel of alternative sources of energy to dozens of business executives at Goodwin College.
U.S. Rep. John Larson, who invited Pickens to East Hartford, says using natural gas in cars and trucks is a good step… Continue

The holidays are coming up and that means there is an opportunity for us to keep the momentum building toward the adoption of the NAT GAS Act (H.R. 1835 and S. 1408).
Members of Congress will be home for Thanksgiving week; and then will be home again for the Christmas/New Year holidays.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to e-mail, call, or drop… Continue

Last week, four of the world's most outspoken oil aficionados waded into the controversy of peak oil, publishing articles packed with myth and distortion. This "Gang of Four" all claimed the issue was silly, moot, or simply a myth. The four pieces were Pulitzer Prize-winning author Daniel Yergin's seven-page article in Foreign Policy, energy analyst Michael Lynch's… Continue

Oil trades above $74, spikes to year's highest level on strong Chinese economic performance.
By George Jahn, Associated Press Writer

VIENNA (AP) -- Oil prices hit their highest level this year on Friday as traders looked past a mixed batch of U.S. economic data to focus on a strong rise in China's bellwether stock index.
Benchmark crude for October delivery was up $1.29 to $74.20 a barrel by afternoon European… Continue

: "Billionaire T. Boone Pickens expects to know within 100 days of Barack Obama taking over as president in January whether the U.S. government is going to adopt part of his ambitious and controversial energy plan.
The plan calls for an eventual overhaul of the power grid and Pickens is also betting on huge growth in wind power. But he said, as a start, the United States can move… Continue

It has been brought to my attention that some people are questioning the integrity or intentions of T Boone's plan. Beyond the obvious implications of Pickens finding solutions through energy in which he is already invested, some individuals have another question. They wonder why there is a multi-million dollar minimum investment requirement for his company, which is out of reach for most people. This has lead to some suggesting we should create a company in which all of us can invest, and if… Continue

Dear Pickens Plan Members. There are many choices for alternative electric energy but the real question is; which is the most cost effective for where I live? Pickens Plan is a NATIONAL plan that promises to bring cost effective energy drawn from the windy Mid-US where the wind is strong and steady and solar power from our dessert areas. The reason for doing this is to free-up natural gas for our transportation fleet, which uses 38% of our imported oil and for automobiles as a second fuel… Continue

Rocky Mt. Hydrogen Drive - 2008 Clean Fuel Education Tour
Right now, the cost per mile by fuel type for my H2TOY, multi-fuel vehicle is:
$0.30 per mile on gasoline @ $5 per gallon if I chose to use it, which I have not for over 200,000miles & counting
$0.18 per mile on E85, getting 15miles on a $2.69 gallon, available in Denver, CO
$0.11 per mile on H2 @ $4.50 per kilo (1kilo of H2 = 1 gallon of gasoline, yet 39 miles per… Continue

I am seeing all kinds of great ideas being tossed around. This is really great.
But, and this is a BIG BUT!
I am really afraid that many are going off on tangents that will jeopardize the collective group.
We need to form a few leaders to coral the mass into focused directions, or you will have mass attrition levels and total chaos running rampant. The major media companies would eat that up!!! Don't give them the pleasure!!!
I suggest that… Continue

T. Boone Pickens understands some of the struggles we're facing as a nation and he's addressing them with his plan. Recently, another big figure in the campaign for energy independence, Al Gore, proposed a plan that the U.S. produce 100% of it's energy within 10 years by utilizing solar, wind and other environmentally friendly sources of energy. The only major difference between the plans is that Al Gore's takes a strong stance against the further development of carbon-based fuels. With Al Gore… Continue

Look at the power lines outside your house sometime.
Do you know who owns them? Do you know where the power is coming from? Do you know how the power is being generated?
You would be surprised.
Below is a satellite shot of Stillwater, Oklahoma:

I went through the shot and marked 16 DIFFERENT INSTALLATIONS OWNED BY 5… Continue

Not to steal Stephen Colbert’s thunder, but “bears” are a threat to this country at this very moment.
Bear with me! It’ll all make sense in a bit.
When I was a kid, we drove on a family vacation to Yellowstone National Park. I thought it was the neatest damn thing since Evel Knievel screwed up trying to jump the Snake River Canyon!
Then I saw the “Don’t Feed The Bears” sign…
It didn’t make any sense to… Continue

It is my understanding that Congress will again take up the issue of the extension of expiring tax benefits for investments in alternative energy--I think they expire in the next year. In the last go around, I believe the democrats opposed the extension because the republicans rejected some conditions on oil producers etc.
ARE ANY OF YOU AS SICK OF THIS PARTISAN CRAP AS I AM!
I THINK THIS UPCOMING DEBATE IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR ARMY TO MAKE THEIR FIRST HUGE… Continue

While I can’t stand pennies, Benjamin Franklin had it absolutely correct!
Most people can’t get the grasp of graphs and while I didn’t really want to include it, it is fairly necessary for this discussion.
Don’t worry though! I’ll give a quick explanation of it!
What the graph shows is that depending on how you look at it, to make the equivalent of $1000 from 1997, you would have had to make between $1250 and… Continue

America stands at the edge of a chasm as deep or deeper than the one she faced in the 1930's. Our financial system is in tatters, the Fed is printing money in a desperate attempt to stop the rout in all of our major financial institutions, consumer demand for goods is dropping rapidly as Americans attempt to deal with Skyrocketing Energy
prices. The U.S. dollar is depreciating as fast as the FED prints it and Imported Oil is priced in dollars so not only do we get socked with… Continue

It seems to me that T. Boone doesn't want to supply the major cities primarily. He is looking to CNG to power cars to get us off oil. Well, throughout the Midwest, gas pipes run to most homes. By making electric cheap and plentiful in that area, they could convert to electric appliances and start using CNG for their cars. As supply of electric is increased, the existing power plants will be forced to drop rates, making it cheaper and spurring people to get off gas in the rest of the country,… Continue
