Midwest Community Wind Project
National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) publishes a wind survey map of the United States (AWS Truewind). According to this 80m survey there are 11 states with potential class 3 wind resources in the Midwest. Thirty-eight cities were identified in the aforementioned states with average annual wind speeds of 5.6 m/s (12mph) or greater. These thirty-eight cities occupy approximately fifteen-thousand square miles of land area.
