This is a very thought provoking article about how increases in energy efficiency may lead to increases in energy use:
The Jevons Paradox
It is followed by some interesting commentary.

How Efficiency Improvements May Be Undermining Sustainability
Posted on Sep 4 by Martin Holladay
U.S. energy consumption continues to rise. In spite of continuing efficiency improvements that allow manufacturers to reduce the energy required per unit of production, we’re using more ene…

It's too soon to judge the current one, but for past presidents, the verdict is in. U.S. News has averaged the results of five polls to make a gallery of the worst chief ex…

Friends, countrymen, Americans; lend me your ears.
On Friday, February 6, 2009 I was at the meeting with Mr. Pickens in Houston. I heard say the following about the global competition for energy.
Russia is committing 32% of the next annual budget to developing their energy production capabilities.
Argentina & Iran have switched their automotive fleets to flex fuel capabilities that rely on domestically alternatives such as natural gas more than gasoline.
Saudi Arabia has pegged the…

Boone,
Preface: This email will take you two minutes to read. I considered editing it to about 40 seconds, but feel it important that you see how I come to the conclusion before I deliver a message I believe important to this movement you've helped birth. I've spend years of my life towards the same goal. Please indulge us with the couple minutes and read all of this.
First, I'll thank you for the efforts you've put forth, and the liberty you've allowed in discussing alternative energy solutio…

All the suggestions I've seen for getting the word out are great, and I'll do what I can.
I've been reading some of the comments left by others, and I see that a lot of people feel they're too busy to get individual signatures on a petition.
So I have an idea...
Have you ever been to the grocery…

The price of fuel has dropped. We all know it, I know. I have seen the difference in activity here in the Pickens Plan website. Like I posted earlier. We can not loose momentum if the price goes down! They still have control and we all know we are going to run out of oil if we do not change our ways!
Just because the strings on the pocketbook have been relaxed a little, don't give up or think you have done enough! It will slip right back to worse than we were before! We Can Not afford to let up…

I am looking for people with a focus and direct answers to questions to actually put things into motion. I see a lot of people charged up wanting the next President to back the Pickens Plan and that is really wonderful! Congress should be paying attention if they would like their popularity rating to go up.
People will not stay as interested if they are not functionally integrated in a project... so with all this enthusiasm - after the election, what will people do? We need to have projects tha…

I would suggest initiating a challenge to achieve a 5 Million member army with a target date of Election Day and 20 Million member army by the New Year. If these numbers can be reached, this nation will be well on its way to achieving energy independence.
1 million is good; do not get me wrong, it is not enough to convince congress or a new administration though. Move with the voice of 20 million strong though and you become a voice to be reckoned with.
And do not stop at 20 million, keep grow…

Good Morning Clean Energy Army!
My name is Geoffrey Bailey and I am the Pickens Plan regional campaign manager for Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. With Boone as our General, I will serve as one of the “Colonels” in the newly formed Clean Energy Army. While our titles may be lighthearted, our mission is serious.
Essentially our campaign is divided into two main phases, each with very distinct goals.
First, until the first 100 days of the new administration and new Congress, our goal i…
