Analyzing Black Carbon Emissions and Auto Repair Adjustments

The automotive industry has grown and evolved immensely, as developing low automobile carbon pollutants is of the utmost importance for the environment, and engineers who strive to achieve those parameters. The number one cause for high CO's and HC's (i.e. Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons) is not the tailpipe of an automobile, it is actually the fuel tank; as E.V.A.P. Emissions (i.e. Evaporative…

Nick Chambers, Gas2.org, April 2nd,

2010

THINK has had a rough road in its long history. Having been on the brink of collapse several times, this little Norwegian company just can’t be kept down it seems. Scrabbling back from the nearly dead, THINK now has plans to start selling its itty bitty City EV in New…

Tokyo Auto Show: Honda CR-Z Hybrid Coming To America

Christopher DeMorro, Gas2.org, October 22nd, 2009

I don’t normally get excited about hybrids. They’re pretty humdrum if you ask me, and I was into performance vehicles way before I was into alternative fuels. The Prius is boring, the Fusion is just a Fusion, and the Insight and downright ugly.

But Honda seems to have been listening, having announced that the aggressively styled CR-Z concept hatch will make it into… Continue

The "Big Green Lie"

See: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/03/bentleys-new-biofuel-sports-coupe/

This is the irony of the "green lie".

It will only *cost* in the beginning (like all new technology

along the development curve). Over the long run, it is money

in the bank on top of preserving the environment, removing the need for

energy wars and more...

"The Supersports is capable of running on E85 ethanol, which actually raises the power output of… Continue

The Truth Behind The Auto Bailout Scam

I was watching the major media news today while Congress was interrogating the CEO's of the Big Three automakers on why they took private planes to the hearing. Answer; because they can. End of story. It never ceases to amaze me how such trivial news dominates the conversation around major issues while the underlying truths, even those which might fundamentally alter the public perception of the issue, go largely unreported.

While I was watching the news I thought about all of the… Continue

Automakers Beg for ANOTHER $25BN!

So, the US automakers want us to foot another $25,000,000,000? For what? Making more inefficient vehicles that we won't buy so they can ask for more again? No thank you. If they want money, they should do it the way the rest of us do it, WE EARN IT! If the US automakers would like this money, perhaps we should learn from NASA.

More or less, We should instate an 'X-Prize' for them. Have strict guidelines of what sort of car they need to produce to be awarded the money, then have them… Continue

CNG Refueling Stations in NY

I am interested in installing CNG Refueling Stations in western New York. How do we go about making this happen? We can all convert our much needed F-250 4x4 pickup trucks and save fuel. We would love to open a facility to convert people's vehicles to CNG for them. We can make the impact right now in a very short amount of time. This is something we can do. We need a waiver from red tape and DER restrictions that keep the plan from happening. Who can make sure that a project like this is not… Continue

Who supplies conversion kits? Who is installing?

A message from Jake to all members of Pickens South Florida on PickensPlan!

None of the site will tell me how to convert my car to natural gas. some don't

work or they say only for fleet . what do I do?\]

Good question, Jake. I have found the same information you have.

The links folks have provided to access conversion information only leads to more and more links, with no real end point to information. If conversion exists for autos to date,… Continue

Natural Gas Distribution and Population

I gathered some data regarding the Natural Gas distribution network in the United States and then looked up population density. As I expected the two correspond quite well to each other. In other words, to convert cars, buses and municipal transportation systems to CNG fuel would require no major modification in the existing distribution infrastructure. I included images below illustrating both the distribution network and population density.

Based on this it seems that the Pickens… Continue
