This year’s LA Auto Show is buzzing with real-life and concept hybrid and all-electric cars. But in the clean diesel corner, the crickets were chirping. Will Americans ever be ready for clean diesels?

I don’t normally get excited about hybrids. They’re pretty humdrum if you ask me, and I was into performance vehicles way before I was into alternative fuels. The Prius is boring, the Fusion is just a Fusion, and the Insight and downright ugly.

But Honda s…

This is the irony of the "green lie".
It will only *cost* in the beginning (like all new technology
along the development curve). Over the long run, it is money
in the bank on top of preserving the environment, removing the need for
energy wars and more...
AND
"The Supersports is capable of running on E85 ethanol, which actually raises the power output of the coupe’s turbocharged 12-cylinder from a “mere” 600…

I keep hearing from some folks that it was not FDR and the New Deal that ended the world wide depression - it was WWII? If gearing up for WWII got us out of the depression why not fight a WWIII against the specter and causes of climate change created by Global Warming??
Let's invest these Multi Billions in tooling up the U.S. auto industry to make wind turbines, transmission towers, electric delivery transports, solar panels, fresh and salt water pumping/electric turbines to store off peak as h…

NOTE: Some auto makers are already coming out with their CNG autos and hibreds at the 2009 auto shows.
Auto Shows are a great place to spread the word and gather signatures in support of the Pickens Plan. The 2009 show schedule is out!…

I was watching the major media news today while Congress was interrogating the CEO's of the Big Three automakers on why they took private planes to the hearing. Answer; because they can. End of story. It never ceases to amaze me how such trivial news dominates the conversation around major issues while the underlying truths, even those which might fundamentally alter the public perception of the issue, go largely unreported.
While I was watching the news I thought about all of the other auto ma…

So, the US automakers want us to foot another $25,000,000,000? For what? Making more inefficient vehicles that we won't buy so they can ask for more again? No thank you. If they want money, they should do it the way the rest of us do it, WE EARN IT! If the US automakers would like this money, perhaps we should learn from NASA.
More or less, We should instate an 'X-Prize' for them. Have strict guidelines of what sort of car they need to produce to be awarded the money, then have them make it. I'…

I am interested in installing CNG Refueling Stations in western New York. How do we go about making this happen? We can all convert our much needed F-250 4x4 pickup trucks and save fuel. We would love to open a facility to convert people's vehicles to CNG for them. We can make the impact right now in a very short amount of time. This is something we can do. We need a waiver from red tape and DER restrictions that keep the plan from happening. Who can make sure that a project like this is not bur…

We need to make sure we include the efforts to write our congress members from their page too. They have joined the Push PickensPlan effort.

A message from Jake to all members of Pickens South Florida on PickensPlan!
None of the site will tell me how to convert my car to natural gas. some don't
work or they say only for fleet . what do I do?\]
Good question, Jake. I have found the same information you have.
The links folks have provided to access conversion information only leads to more and more links, with no real end point to information. If conversion exists for autos to date, I think many would be interested in…

I gathered some data regarding the Natural Gas distribution network in the United States and then looked up population density. As I expected the two correspond quite well to each other. In other words, to convert cars, buses and municipal transportation systems to CNG fuel would require no major modification in the existing distribution infrastructure. I included images below illustrating both the distribution network and population density.
Based on this it seems that the Pickens Plan can def…

I view myself as a good steward of my environment, my home, my state, my country and my planet. While I do believe in the environment, I think it will take several years and multiple avenues to achieve a truly environmentally friendly and independent lifestyle.
One option for transportation is hydrogen-powered cars.
I have considered this technology, and think it is a viable alternative, but, as I am apt to do, I considered what the opposition would say. With almost every technology, there are e…

To quote a response I made to a comment on hydrogen fuel-cell cars: I disagree with the contention that hydrogen production is dirty. It can be done in a cup of water with a 9V battery. Little tiny hydrogen and oxygen bubble come out of the water. hmmmm dirty? NOT. Also, in the UK, they have built a prototype solar powered station that separates hydrogen and oxygen for free. HMMMM clean and cheap? YEP! Also, GM, Honda and others are starting to produce the vehicles. Yeah, Honda is charging waaaa…
