Mike Johnston Natural Gas Vehicles Get No Respect

John Gartner — June 26, 2009 Natural gas is the Rodney Dangerfield of transportation fuels. It’s cheap. It’s clean. But consumers don’t have much of a chance to use it it because there’s only model of natural gas car for sale. Billionaire investor T. Boone Pickens has been beating the drum the loudest lately about the merits of natural gas as a clean(er) fuel that can also make the U.S. more energy independent. His argument was bolstered this week by the discovery that the U.S. may have 35 perce… Continue

Michigan now has 22% unemployment and plants sit idol 16 hours out of every 24 hours. So what to do with Detroit? Well here is this man's thoughts. I have been int he pharmaceutical business for 30 years and spent many a day on the manufacturing floor. Yes there were times when competition set in and we had to shut shifts down. So back in 1984, I made a suggestion to my boss and I said "we have all of this validated equipment for making drugs. Why don't we manufacture drugs for other non-competi… Continue

maurie j. campanella How To Bail Out The Economy...........................

Saving the Big 3 for You and Me ...a message from Michael Moore Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 Friends, I drive an American car. It's a Chrysler. That's not an endorsement. It's more like a cry for pity. And now for a decades-old story, retold ad infinitum by tens of millions of Americans, a third of whom have had to desert their country to simply find a damn way to get to work in something that won't break down: My Chrysler is four years old. I bought it because of its smooth and comfortabl… Continue

JT Where Have All The Taxes Gone? (Short term problem with plug-in E-Cars)

I should have seen this one coming. Mea Culpa. My only excuse is that I was too caught up in the potentials of a clean, Green future to consider the immediate moment. Electric cars have a problem. It isn't battery life, or expense, or road safety, or even distance limitations. It's fuel tax. Federal and State governments tax gasoline. Some counties and cities may do so as well, either directly or by sales tax. The tax on electricity isn't anywhere near as high, and there's no taxing what you g… Continue

Dianne Irene Clean Burning Alcohol- a natural gas

David Blume, an ecological expert, has addressed the issue of the prohibition and what he calls its true purpose. The model A and T car was a duel fuel system and could burn both alcohol and oil/gasoline. With the push for prohibition, the oil industry got an 18 year head start that allowed its establishment to what we know today in the industry. The use of alcohol is clean burning and can be made from numerous sources including apples. This source of fuel could be made locally, is relatively in… Continue

Brad Fregger Natural Gas for Electricity and Trucks, the Plug-in Electric for Autos

"Natural Gas for Electricity and Trucks, the Plug-in Electric for Autos"; now, this is a great idea. Developing the infrastructure needed to fuel the nation's trucks with natural gas would be relatively simple, while doing the same for autos would be very expensive. Besides that, the technology already exists for the plug-in electric, all we need is a less-expensive battery (the lithium battery already gets well over 200 miles on a single charge with the Tesla). In addition, improved battery tec… Continue
