Surge in Natural Gas Has Utah Driving Cheaply
According to a recent story in The New York Times people in Utah have embraced their supply of natural gas as a vehicle fuel and are filling up on CNG for as little as .87 a gallon (as of last fall). Where is our state at in relation to this?
Pennsylvania is a prime example of states who are missing the ball on CNG. We have huge deposits of natural gas within our borders and in a short time we could have municipal fleets and local/regional t…

HOUSTON, TEXAS (Sept 28, 2009) – Use of compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and hybrid vehicles will grow dramatically worldwide, more than doubling their use in the next decade in helping address the issues of climate change and energy security, according to the International Fuel Quality Center (IFQC). To address the increasing issues developing around alternative fuels and the vehicles that run on them, IFQC has launched the Alternative Fuels Service (AFS).
“Alternati…

$3,000,000,000 American taxpayer dollars will be spent to feed good existing cars to the scrap metal processors. Where do the scrap processors send the processed material? to China? Yup. And it appears that more than half of the participants have bought new foreign models. Great way to spend incentives. Oh yeah, we have…

n Part 1: Is there a lot more natural gas than previously thought? I asserted it now appears likely that, thanks to unconventional supplies, natural gas alone could meet a great deal of the Waxman-Markey CO2 target for 2020 — without requiring gobs of new power plants to be sited and built or thousands of miles of new transmission lines. In this post I will explain the two key reasons why.
First, today, dirty coal plants are being “dispatched” (or utilized) to provide electricity by grid operat…

Dear Fellow Soldiers,
Midwest Energy Solutions finally has a mixing system that can be added to a diesel vehicle, that injects propane or natural gas in small amounts that increases engine performance and the time between service intervals because it decreases engine oil dilution and contamination, it reduces diesel fuel costs because it increases the fuel mileage, it increases horsepower and torque, decreases harmful combustion temperatures and smoke which increases engine life, it decreases h…

Last year T. Boone Pickens brought the concept of natural gas as a vehicle fuel into the national stream of consciousness when he launched his “Pickens Plan”. Since then the concept has evolved to the point where there are several pieces of legislation making their way through Congress (Natural Gas Act of 2009)and the Senate which will encourage the more widespread implementation of this “green” fossil fuel. Recent estimates of the natural gas reserves in the United States indicate that we have…

We Need an Energy Revolution
The United States today spends some $400 billion a year importing oil from countries like Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Mexico, Russia, and Venezuela. Think for a moment what an incredible impact that same $400 billion a year could have on our country if that money were invested here and not abroad, in such areas as weatherization, energy efficiency, sustainable energies like wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, public transportation and automobiles that are energy efficient…

David Shepardson / Detroit News Washington Bureau
Washington -- The House overwhelmingly approved a $150 million program to research natural-gas powered vehicles.
By a vote of 363 to 35, the House passed the bill that authorizes the Energy Department to conduct a five-year program of natural gas vehicle research, development and demonstration, authorizing $30 million annually starting in the 2010 budget year.

One year later: Pickens Plan impacts energy debate
BY WILL BRACKETT
July 20, 2009
Recently, T. Boone Pickens observed the one-year anniversary of the launch of his campaign to transform energy usage in America with the primary goal of reducing our nation’s reliance on imported oil. Pickens celebrated “Energy Independence Day” on July 8 with the introduction of the NAT GAS Act in the U.S. Senate (Senate Bill 1408) with the measure’s sponsors, U.S. Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Robert Menendez, D…

Natural gas seen as too cheap to ignore
Oversold market conditions and inflation fears are fueling interest
By Jeff Benjamin

On paper, the case for investing in natural gas is straightforward: It is a clean, largely domestic fuel now selling at 74% below its peak price of a year ago.
Despite the fact that natural gas is the worst-performing commodity year-to-date, a flood of money has poured into pure-play funds that offer exposure to it. Supply-and-demand fundamental…

Natural Gas Moves Cars
Location: New York
Author: Ken Silverstein
Date: Monday, July 20, 2009
Telecommunications giant AT&T says that it will renovate its gasoline-powered fleet of vehicles so that they can use alternative fuels such as natural gas. Over the next five years, it will convert 8,000 of those cars. It then hopes to have 15,000 clean-burning vehicles on the road by 2019.
It is part of a trend that began in the mid-1990s when the federal government enacted mandates to require go…

Energy companies turning to natural gas vehicles
Denver Business Journal - by Cathy Proctor
Colorado’s big oil and gas companies have begun burning natural gas in some of their fleet cars and pickups to demonstrate its effectiveness as an alternative motor fuel.
Natural gas has been used to generate electricity, or to heat homes and office buildings. But there’s a growing interest in it for cars and trucks — one of the components of oilman T. Boone Pickens’ plan to cut the nation’s reliance on…

Pickens Continues Drive for New Energy Resources
Tuesday, July 14, 2009
NEW YORK — The past year has been tough on T. Boone Pickens and his $60 million mission to wean America off of foreign oil.
Over the past 12 months, Pickens pressed the public to rethink its use of energy. His "Pickens Plan" called for a number of changes such as investing in wind and solar energy, rebuilding the country's electrical grid and replacing gasoline with natural gas in cars and trucks.
Pickens says he was infl…

1. 12 miles to the gallon in town under good conditions.
2. 16 miles to the gallon on the highway, with the wind at my back, no AC, No nothing.

You see one from time to time at stoplights. The little CNG sticker on the bumper and the driver with the Cheshire grin on the face are dead giveaways. You're looking at a vehicle that operates on compressed natural gas, one of the cleanest and most cost-effective ways to move yourself about.
Owners of natural gas-powered vehicles are doing you a favor -- clearing the air, reducing climate-alterin…
