Pickens and Woolsey find common ground

It was a pleasure to see that Boone and Jim could map out a path to get off oil. I think they have really understood and mapped out the quickest way to get us off imported oil. Their coalition is very important. Since most of you know Boone's stand, it is important of have a look at the other side of the story - that side that holds for you and I -- the little guys.

If you are interested in a voiced-over presentation that points out what a slave you are in terms of your daily…

Potential Bounty for North Carolina Dr. Daniel Fine

Nearly 40 years ago, when the first oil price shock from the Middle East and OPEC disrupted the American economy, North Carolina and Appalachia briefly became an oil and gas frontier. Following geological investigations, Chevron drilled an exploratory well in the Deep River Basin beneath Lee County, N.C. Oil was discovered at 5,000 feet, but it contained excessive paraffin and Chevron plugged the well.

It remains there today as a new natural gas and oil technology has emerged: the…

Energy Conference Focuses On Shale Gas Hot-Button Issues

SOCORRO, N.M. Now, the New Mexico Center for Energy Policy – a research wing of New Mexico Tech – is taking the lead in framing the debate on these hot-button issues. The Center and the Economic…

Using solvents in oilsands uses 85% less energy and NO WATER.

A company called Nsolv has a process by which it is possible to extract bitumen from oilsands without water and only using 15% of the energy required by steam assisted gravity drainage. They pump a heated solvent such as propane through the well and collect it and the bitumen from the bottom of the well if I understand correctly.

Fossil fuels get potentially greener every day. It's up to indrusty to utilize the technologies.…

Massey Coal Mine,BP Gulf Oil, and Japan Nuclear Disasters--The 3-Headed Hydra of Unsustainable Greed

Now, we're facing another  head of the fossil fuel/nuke hydra:  Japan's Nuclear Meltdown.   Is it all about greed for money or is there ANY sustainability and utility in what these demons of power do (coal, oil, nuclear)?   We've seen the price of life devalued to a new low...EVEN here in the States.  Massey Coal sold themselves to survive litigation and possibly criminal prosecution.  BP replaced its CEO and now, with respect to deep water drilling in the Gulf of Mexico,  only buys…

Alternative Transportation Fuels

Sir,

From my perspective, it is clear that we need to re-prioritize our quest for sustainable alternative energy solutions. Focusing on power generation in the form of Wind, Solar, Geo-Thermal, Clean-Coal, and other valuable schemes is a noble cause, and well worth the effort, but it is not the elephant in the room.  I believe our imperative is to stop transferring the wealth of the U.S. - $337 billion in 2010 - to purchase foreign oil from countries that aren't particularly friendly…

Hey T Boone, What's this about your wanting the U.S. to Take Iraq's Oil by Force?

Pickens urged Bush to take Iraq’s oil Updated at 2:21 PM

Source: aspen daily news

As the last American combat troops left Iraq last week, oil-tycoon-turned-clean-energy-innovator T. Boone Pickens was at the American Renewable Energy Day conference in Aspen, lamenting that the U.S. didn’t take hold of the rich oil fields in the war-torn Middle Eastern nation before they left.

Pickens at first elicited laughs from an audience at the Paepcke Auditorium on Saturday… Continue
