A local business owner in NEPA - Mr. Genetti, owner of Genetti Hotel & Convention Center, has sponsored six billboards in Luzerne and Lackawanna counties promoting natural gas vehicles to reduce dependency on foreign oil.
Quote from News Article "He is a fan of billionaire oil magnate T. Boone Pickens, who is pushing for expanding the use of natural gas-powered vehicles to reduce oil imports. "T. Boone Pickens promoted this idea and it makes sense to me. It should…
Gary, the door swings both ways! You are free to leave through it just as you were free to enter and participate. Your choice. But let me ask you this, if we ignore the term "climate change" and just follow the Pickens Plan into the future would you be ok with that? I personally am still surprised that there are so many of you out there that believe what is happening is just a natural phenomenon like the last ice age for example. Does it seem plausible to you that all the polutants pumped… Continue

I am very intrigued about the book that I have been reading the last several days. "The First Billion is the Toughest". As a teacher in the high school I have shown the movie "Crude Awakening" and completely surprised the students with the information. I have even had some parents contact me to say perhaps that I am scaring their children regarding oil and the lack of it.
I very much admire what T.Boone, Mr. Pickens or Cowboy Pickens whichever name he prefers…
I was just listening to CNBC when my attention was grabbed by a business news article they were about to do on the smart grid. I'm not an expert on the stock market but I believe this is both good and positive news for us all. It appears that an ETF(exchange traded fund) has been created to trade in companies that are in smart grid businesses. The stock symbol for the fund is GRID and it will create a basket of 29 companies that work with smart grid infrastructure, equipment and components for… Continue

The nation’s supply chain is getting an energy-efficient shot in the arm that will make transporting goods more cost-effective, energy efficient and environmentally friendly. A series of cost-sharing grants from the Department of Energy, totaling $300 million, should help 25 separate projects add more than 9,000 alternative fuel and energy efficient vehicles.
The grants also will help kick-start an infrastructure for refueling stations,… Continue
Today, I saw a fantastic article on Yahoo! Green, discussing one environmentalist groups recent campaign. The group was upset about a particular companies sale of pesticides overseas which is outlawed here in the US. The pesticides are linked to numerous health issues in humans as well as malformations in animals. However, with some clever thinking the group came up with an innovative "solution." They decided that they would all send a pair of old underwear to the companies headquarters until… Continue

Special thanks to Mr. Mike Johnston for contributing to this article
Currently, the U.S. and most of the world is in what would be called the fossil fuel economy. The majority of our power source is from oil, natural gas, coal, and petroleum products. We need energy to keep our world and society running; however, fossil fuel energy also creates problems such as pollution, climate change and imported oil… Continue

The $787 billion dollar stimulus plan is presently failing at what it was intended to do: stimulate the economy. As of July, 2009 only 7% of this package has been distributed out and there has been no stimulation what-so-ever. Many of those who have received their portion of the package have used the monies for other means. Several states who utilized the cash for short term needs, such as to "cushion" state budgets, make more Medicaid payments and head off other fiscal problems is just one… Continue

I saw the ad for a CNG trucking workshop on the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association website advertising a CNG Trucking event and did a little research. It seems that one of the key sponsors of the event is the US Department of Energy. I went to their website and found more information on the Clean Cities program as well as links to other similar workshops around the country. If you are involved in the trucking industry you may want to attend… Continue

A recent television ad from Exxon/Mobil introduces the concept of an on-board fuel reformer for vehicles (view the ad here). These devices combine water and oil (or another feedstock) at elevated temperature in the presence of a catalyst to produce Hydrogen fuel for the vehicle. This sounds very complicated but it really isn’t that hard to understand. I have…
Diane Chu is a Chartered Economist (MBA, CPM) with extensive experience working for major corporations in the energy sector. I started talking to her on twitter after reading a story she wrote (Land Driller Sector Outlook: It's All About the Natural Gas) on the financial website "Seeking Alpha".…
I made this video of the introduction of the Natural gas Act of 2009 earlier this year and thought I would share it so people could get an idea of what it is about. This is the first of four parts, links to the other 3 parts are below. I guess it is a really basic documentary:
While there are certainly many activities and specific events taking place throughout the nation all year long (many now related to energy issues), perhaps we all should take a moment on July 8th to celebrate the creation of this unifying project, called the Pickens Plan by it's founder. Without this visionary's efforts, we still would be languishing in 1970's wishful thinking. So make sure that on this date you send a heartfelt thanks to Mr. Pickens for beginning this road to energy freedom,… Continue
Wasn't it only last year that Americans were outraged over 4$ a gallon gasoline and ready to revolt en masse in support of any kind of alternative energy or fuel which would bring back energy prices that were at least affordable if not cheap or green? Everyone wanted a voice in the choices that were being made regarding our energy future and grassroots campaigns led by T. Boone Pickens and Al Gore each had several million active members working together for a green energy… Continue

I really believe that the established petroleum industry represents
the only true challenge to implementing the Pickens Plan and awakening
the U.S. and World economy to a new dawn of clean renewable energy.
I think considerably more effort should be applied in this area. I see
no reason to take them on headlong. Their established facilities and
distribution channels are in place. Why reinvent the wheel? Do we
really want to put all these people in the… Continue
It took a long time for me to allow myself the opportunity of getting my thoughts out in public instead of hiding them inside of me and a small circle of friends. But when I became aware of the PickensPlan feelings inside of me stirred up memories of when I was an idealistic youth in high school and college. So I have tried my best to blog as often as the spirit moves me. When I first joined, about 2 months ago, I noticed a definite spirit in the blogs and comments from others. But over the… Continue
