Fresh Water Scarcity?

I heard that PIckens' plan is really about water. I heard the wind power stuff is just so that fresh water pipelines can be built from that huge aquifer that Pickens owns in Texas as the pipes would follow the path of transmission lines. They say that after we run out of oil, fresh water will be next. I say if we benefit by a dude's alterior motive then I don't really care about his intentions. I was wondering what you people thought about it.

Wind Power IS Now Cheaper Than Nuclear Power says EU Climate Chief

Wind Power:

USD$0.05/installed watt

Nuclear Power:

USD$1.50/installed watt

Generating energy from wind turbines at sea would be cheaper than building new atomic power plants, Europe's climate chief has said, in the latest challenge to the crisis-stricken nuclear industry.

Connie Hedegaard, the EU climate change commissioner, said: "Some people tend to believe that nuclear is very, very cheap, but offshore wind is cheaper than nuclear. People…

Transmission of energy from wind farms

No need for electrical transmission of power from large wind farms to point of use.

Rather than sending the energy collected from the wind as electricity why not send it as compressed air? It is mature technology. It is probably the safest transmission medium available. It can easily be converted to electricity near point of use and distributed using existing grid. Quite possibly existing gas turbine generating stations can be converted to use compressed air. Many industrial processes… Continue

Climate Change.................Believe it or not!

Gary, the door swings both ways! You are free to leave through it just as you were free to enter and participate. Your choice. But let me ask you this, if we ignore the term "climate change" and just follow the Pickens Plan into the future would you be ok with that?

I personally am still surprised that there are so many of you out there that believe what is happening is just a natural phenomenon like the last ice age for example. Does it seem plausible to you that all the polutants pumped… Continue

Sailing in Sustainable Style – Solar and Wind Energy part 2

Testing the Waters

The first trip gave newbie cruisers Mike and Joanne the chance to get a feel for their energy needs. They left home with a diesel engine set up to charge a 12-volt, 366 amp-hour battery bank that powered the boat’s electrical loads. Though the engine worked well for cruising when winds were low and produced more than enough energy for battery-charging, it was less than… Continue

Sailing in Sustainable Style - Solar and Wind Energy part 1

Some say home is where you hang your hat.

Every once in awhile I run across an interesting bit of fun and creative living life styles, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

Michael and Joanne Young say home is where you hang your PV modules—and your wind genny. As they have found, you can travel and have all the… Continue

New Buses Bring Silence to the Streets

Pickens is fond of saying "Electric power can't move an eighteen-wheeler." Well, maybe so, but it can, apparently, move a New York City bus. Read about the new hybrid buses that run on a turbine charging batteries that run the bus in the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/07/nyregion/07bus.html?ref=nyregion

Any New Yorker who has ridden a city bus might be forgiven for believing a banshee is buried… Continue

Satellite Solar Power Station ("SSPS") Revisited---by the Japanese This Time Around

Harvesting solar power from space through orbiting solar farms sounds extremely interesting. Mitsubishi Electric Corp., a manufacturer of solar panels, has decided to join an AUD $25 billion Japanese project to construct a massive solar farm in space within three decades.

Japan has already started working towards achieving its goal by developing a technology for 1-gigawatt solar farm, which would include four square kilometers of solar panels that will be stationed 36,000 kilometers… Continue

peoples concerns. I want to add this, in America inventors like myself are mostly over looked and underfunded, to proove this take a good look at what has taken me 10 years to produce on my own w/ out any financial help from anyone. It is all about GREEN ENERGY in every sence of the word. Please go to UTube video search...key word windcrank..Itwill show proof of concept… Continue

So, what exactly is an energy efficient mortgage?

Header 3

Energy efficient mortgages have very few restrictions

An energy efficient mortgage is a loan that allows you to incorporate the cost of your solar improvements into your mortgage loan. The improvements can cost up to 15 percent of the total value of your home. The lender will calculate the energy savings for your home because of the new solar system and will add that to the total loan value, letting you borrow more than normal. Put another way, it doesn’t matter how… Continue
