Can Freight Rail Be The Green Freight Transportation Solution?

We have all seen freight trains pulling rail cars loaded with truck trailers and shipping containers but it wasn't until I saw an ad on TV recently that I really started thinking about the potential of intermodal transportation from a "green" perspective.
