Pickens is fond of saying "Electric power can't move an eighteen-wheeler." Well, maybe so, but it can, apparently, move a New York City bus. Read about the new hybrid buses that run on a turbine charging batteries that run the bus in the NY Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/07/nyregion/07bus.html?ref=nyregion
Any New Yorker who has ridden a city bus might be forgiven for believing a banshee is buried under the…

With utility-scale wind project developers cash-strapped and unable to obtain financing for large wind farms, small wind power project developers see a window of opportunity.
by Sarah Lozanova, Contributor
Wisconsin, United States
Very few large-scale wind projects are able to obtain financing under the current economic climate. But falling turbine, steel and labor prices have created the perfect environment for mid-scale wind energy projec…

Dear Wind Energy Friends,
Sorry I haven't been active lately. I've been extremely busy painting and self-publishing my new book: Power of the Wind.
Check it out on my
blog where you can preview and purchase or go directly to the publisher by clicking the link below.
For all my wind energy contacts who haven't been able to purchase a painting due to our tight economic times, con…

All/ David I Tried unsuccessful for almost a year to contact TBP to inform him of a suite of More efficient, less expensive USA Wind Turbines. I think now he has realized that and "downsized" his vista and vision. These turbines will still generate more power at less cost - which is the basis of all energy generation -- green or not economics. Proposed another technology (US) for high efficiency, inexpensive autos, made in USA using novel multi-fuel engine (RET). They should Achieve 150 MPG on d…

In early 2008, I started performing major research on the feasibility of residential scale wind turbine power and solar energy in Pennsylvania.
The results were rather disappointing since the sun index is rather low here, and although there were some good areas for wind, the overall cost to install such a system to meet all or most of a homes energy needs exceeded $120,000 and would take 15 to 20 years to get paid back. Granted, you would get paid back, but this did not leave me with an easy pr…

The articles I`ve been reading lately about the technology for hybrids is a start. The constant content of the media from the auto-makers makes it sound like were accomplishing milestones.A bit more emphasis on some of the facts would be nice.If we are plugging in our cars into the grid,we are not burning gasoline. Were burning something else, somewhere else. The new Tesla automobile sounds like we are really getting somewhere. That car shows some pretty good stats with a top speed of 125 m.p.h.,exce…

This information I obtained from the online publication of The Wall Street Journal about Warren Buffet`s and Charles Mungers view on the future.
Buffet talked about how the dismal out-look he had on the newspaper business, obviously the other avenues to gain information he spoke about was the computer. That paper and ink will now go into my printer,it seems.
Buffet then spoke about the rise in the expense of insurance, the slow rise in the housing market, and spoke about the mistakes made in the Tre…

Hi everybody,
This Cliff Ingram, I just read an article on a test conducted that put the hybrids, battery power, and hydrogen powered cars against each other to see which one was the cleanest and greenest. They`re(anybody) concluded that hydrogen seemed to be the winner.Hybrid: grid and gas. Battery: grid Hydrogen: obvious.
I must be missing something here. Wind and Solar is green.period.My website blueskysolarwind.com sells micro wind turbines, solar equipment, and other various alternative energy p…

With over two years in the works, preliminary engineering numbers are indicating that we have designed an advance water turbine system that can truly compete head to head in the production of electricity against fossil fuels and nuclear power, in applicable locations. Our system requires a fairly strong current like the Florida Gulfstream within reasonable close proximity to target populations. We are targeting the development of commercial systems in the 4 MW range, each with the capacity to li…

Small Wind Turbine Federal Tax Credit is Law
Today Congress passed legislation, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, H.R. 1424, that includes a new federal-level investment tax credit to help consumers purchase small wind turbines for home, farm, or business use. A few hours ago, President Bush signed the bill into law. Owners of small wind systems with 100 kilowatts (kW) of capacity and less can receive a credit for 30% of the total installed cost of the system, not to exceed $4,00…

AINSWORTH, Neb.
Driving south out of the agricultural town of Ainsworth, you can’t miss its newest crop: wind turbines, three dozen of them, with steel stalks 230 feet high and petal-like blades 131 feet long, sprouting improbably from the sand hills of north-central Nebraska, beside ruminating cattle.
Though painted gray, the turbines stand out against the evening backdrop of battleship-colored thunderclouds and bear an almost celestial whiteness when day’s light is right. Airplane pilots can…

WIND TURBINES AND BETZ LAW
Efficiency of wind turbines is limited to 59%.
Engineers and other rational people know either by education or intuition and logic that a wind turbine cannot absorb all the energy from an airstream. All types of turbines rotate only reluctantly because their rotating shaft in turn has to push magnets through coils to generate an electric current. The electrons (electricity) possess inertia so they don’t move from zero to a considerable speed through the wire without r…
