david@PickensPlan William Kamkwamba and his Windmill

I came across this video today and thought it was just an amazing story. An impoverished 20 year old boy living in Malawi, taught himself how to make a windmill. Recognizing that wind was in abundance where he lived, William was able to construct windmills using materials available and brought running water and electricity to his village for the first time. This is a truly remarkable and inspirational story. What are your thoughts? Continue

Jacqueline A $5 solution to saving water....

I was recently at the West Coast Green Building exhibition - and saw one product available to recirculate (pump) the water for a sink or shower, until the water was hot to use. Cost about $450. For $5 - our household uses a bucket in the shower to capture the water - until the water is hot, which is usually around 3 gallons, and then we switch the water to the shower head & proceed. The 5 gallon bucket waits patiently until the next use of the toilet, in which it is poured into the bowl to… Continue

Gary Fosburg National Energy Lottery in Support of Pickens Plan

If the Pickens plan (which I support) supported a National Energy Lottery (see blog below) proposal and the 4 million followers donated 5 bucks a week for this Energy Raffle, there would be 800 winners a week or 41,600 winners a year of a $25,000 voucher good only for Renewable products, ie; solar, wind, hybrid, energy green appliances, etc...and be fully transferrable as well. Take advantage of the Fed's energy credit and it would buy around $32,000 worth of Green product/s. If the Pickens Pla… Continue

Scott Baker Officials in Three States Pin Water Woes on Gas Drilling

Anyone who thinks NG drilling will solve all our problems should read the following article: http://www.propublica.org/feature/officials-in-three-states-pin-water-woes-on-gas-drilling-426 Look, I know we would all like a nice clean answer to shelling out half a trillion a year to petrostates that hate us, but NG has a lot of problems, particularly in the use and abuse of water. If you live anywhere near a NG drilling site, you owe it to yourself to read this. Continue

HARRY "SKIP" ROBINSON Water Turbine Project

With over two years in the works, preliminary engineering numbers are indicating that we have designed an advance water turbine system that can truly compete head to head in the production of electricity against fossil fuels and nuclear power, in applicable locations. Our system requires a fairly strong current like the Florida Gulfstream within reasonable close proximity to target populations. We are targeting the development of commercial systems in the 4 MW range, each with the capacity to li… Continue

CyberCelt Global Warming : Dead Zones Ahead

Using the Danish Center for Earth System Science (DCESS), Earth scientists Gary Shaffer, Steffen Malskær Olsen and Jens Olaf Pepke Pedersen modeled the next 100,000 years of Earth history if global warming continues unabated. They used two models that measure the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere as an indicator of rising temperature. One model found that CO2 levels could rise to 549 parts per million (ppm) by 2100, which would be a 50 percent increase from CO2 levels today. The… Continue

Brandon Jordan lakeland florida electric solar water heating program

Note: Lakeland has begun searching for private investment partnerships in order to expand the program.

Lakeland Electric, a municipal utility in Florida, is the nation's first utility to offer solar-heated domestic hot water on a "pay-for-energy" basis. The utility owns and maintains the solar water heaters they install on participating customers' homes and bills them only for hot water delivered to the faucet. The utility installs revenue-grade energy mete

With our group www.windesal.com we can drought proof many communities now suffering with climate change issues, making them sustainable with fresh water/green energy and our surplus power can go back into local grids we don't depend on main grids. We don't waste energy either we can produce water which can be easily stored. There has been much talk about climate change, but not much about where we will see its first impact. Flooding, Drought, water is the vector of climate change, we already ha… Continue

Bo SAVE WATER, WHAT?

So you are fishing in a boat, in a river, and you are in front of a man's house along the shore. He sees you and yells out "Hey you, get off my property!". Are you really on his property? The bottom of the river may be part of his property, but the moving water in a river cannot be owned any more than the air above it. A plane flies over his house, or a helicopter hovers 100 feet above it, can he claim they are trespassing? The moralistic question here is actually 'can we claim ownership of wat… Continue
