Declining Oil Prices – The Quest for Energy Independence in Jeopardy?

With oil prices falling from their high of $147.27 per barrel in July 2008 to below $40.00 just before Christmas, will this nation forget about developing energy independence? I personally hope not. I light that OPEC has made 3 cuts in production(1) since oil prices began to tumble, totaling 4.2 million barrels a day. There is the possibility that oil will again approach $100.00 or more per barrel during 2009 – 2010. A little addressed factor to our current economic dilemma is the rising costs… Continue

Go green: Algae could be next hot biofuel

Finally someone is taking notice to something that I have been saying since December of 2006. Please note that Algae can be used for carbon sequestration from power plants fired by coal and natural gas. There is a company named Changing World Technologies. Inc that invented a process called Thermal Depolymerization which they are currently referring to by the name… Continue

Congratulations Senator Obama

Congratulations to Senator Obama on his win in the presidential election. This win brings to the forefront the need of this nation to establish energy independence. Sen. Obama has said in his campaign that he would remove troops Iraq, the national security risks through continued destabilization of the region increases. Removal of the troops from Iraq with out ensuring that the new government of Iraq can maintain its own sovereignty will lead to increased potential of that nation reverting to a… Continue

IRAQ "Leave" or "Stay" ???

Should this nation seek to leave Iraq as Sen. Obama has proposed during his campaign? or Should we stay until Iraq is secure enough to maintina its own security as Sen McCain has proposed during his campaig? I will not answer that for you for it is up to you to decide which you feel is the best. I will however give you a look, my opinion, at both sides of the question. To leave in a time frame proposed by Sen. Obama, which is what most Americans seem to prefer at this time, would probably save… Continue

5 Million challenge 20 million Challenge

I would suggest initiating a challenge to achieve a 5 Million member army with a target date of Election Day and 20 Million member army by the New Year. If these numbers can be reached, this nation will be well on its way to achieving energy independence. 1 million is good; do not get me wrong, it is not enough to convince congress or a new administration though. Move with the voice of 20 million strong though and you become a voice to be reckoned with. And do not stop at 20 million, keep grow… Continue

A week of triple digit losses

After a week of triple digit losses and the global economy in a tail spin the summit begins. The G-7 and the G-20 and the world monetary council and the world bank will all be meeting this week end in Washington D.C. They will be looking for a way to stave off the economic decline that high oil prices has brought on. Yet they do not even see the reason for the decline and if they do understand the reason they have not disclosed that fact to the public. Our leaders want to blame the economic decl… Continue

The economic failure

The economic failure that we, the US, are facing is not just a failure of our economy but it is a global fialure in the economy. If as the economists would like to have you believe it is driven from subprime mortages it would be limited only to those nations that have undertaken simular lending practices. But the economic failure is not limited to only those nations, it is effecting all nations across the globe. This has to raise the question as to what exactly is the cause? To answer that simp… Continue
