Coops

Do you think there is any chance of setting up some Coops? Maybe 4-6 houses on one block in a cluster join forces and finances to install wind or solar panels and hook everyone up to the same source. It would be cheaper for everyone, and it seems there has to be a way for everyone in the group to be hooked into their meter so all get "credit" when the meter runs backwards. Even if it only took care of one third or one fourth of an individual's power bill that is better than nothing until technol… Continue

What's up with that?

Why is it so expensive to put in energy systems such as solar or wind? We are seniors and an investment of tens of thousands of dollars will never show payback in our lifetime. There has to be some way to help people install these things without a huge outlay in cost and that will show an immediate reduction in costs. There may be a saving in non renewable energy right away, but not in my pocket book, I will be paying as much or more for years to come with no reward for it. I don't mind helping… Continue

Well?

It looks to me that no matter how you feel or how you are registered, John McCain is NOT the right candidate. He is getting dottier each and every day. We don't need any more crazy's in there, I hate to think of Palin and a bunch of other extremists manipulating Mr. McCain like a puppet, but I truly believe that is what will happen if he is elected. He is definitely not the same man he was even 4 years ago. He may survive physically for at least one term, but his mental capabilities are fast sli… Continue

When this is over . . . .

will we have a president who will embrace change and help us rid ourselves of our dependence on foreign oil? Will we have a president who will try to pay off our debts and not be beholden to foreign countries for our credit? Will we have a president who will proactively get behind all these alternative energies and help them thrive? I am thoroughly terrified that McCain will win this election, and if he does there will probably never be another one in our lifetimes. We will all be at the mercy o… Continue

Why don't they

Why don't they adapt these newer solar panels to fit on cars, the hood, top, trunk, etc., and let them run the car? I know this isn't practical in all areas of the country, but where I live I wouldn't have to use gas more than once or twice a year unless they can make these solar thingies save up energy for a "rainy day". Maybe an auxillary motor that ran on something else like CNG? Seems to me that the entire car could be made of solar panels that would keep the thing going and going. Here wher… Continue

WHO IS THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR THE PICKENS PLAN?

Do you have any inkling yet who is the candidate most likely to adopt the Pickens Plan?? So far I think Obama is the one who will embrace this plan and do what needs to be done to see that it begins to move forward. I fully expect the McCain camp to "say" they will adopt this plan, but being true Republicans, I cannot believe that they will follow through, and it will just be another broken promise, and back to business as usual in DC. The Republican's adore big business and are totally beholden… Continue

It's exciting but is it available?

All the technology that is coming out now that we have this forum is mind boggling. The CNG converter kit sounds good, but is it available for my car, in my area and where do I get the CNG??? I would be willing to convert my Subaru to anything that would boost the MPG and be clean and readily available in this country without importing something. I know we import LNG from the far east. However I also know that in Arkansas there are numerous old coal mines that played out, but are now full of NG.… Continue

EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS

Everything we do to save energy has an impact of the nation's problem. Turn off lights, use CFL bulbs, unplug unused appliances, use less air conditioning, drive slower, all things we can do. Just look them all up on the Internet. Most do not cost a red cent and can save a few dollars over time, best of all though they will all save precious resources that are fast running out. If you can afford wind or solar power, go for it, if you can afford a hybrid, go for it. Anything we do will help chang… Continue
