Official Washington has been in vigorous discussions - internally and externally - about alternative fuels and their role in our energy portfolio today and in the future. We are talking about solar, wind, geo-thermal and bio-methane. We are fully engaged in the national discussion about reducing our dependence on foreign oil by replacing the oil we import as our basic transportation fuel with natural gas.
There is another domestic fuel that is part of the alternative fuel mix, but has not been…

After weeks of mystery and speculation, today V-Vehicle Company (VVC), a San Diego firm backed by oil man turned environmentalist T. Boone Pickens finally revealed that it's the manufacturer setting up shop in Monroe, Louisiana to build a range of high-efficiency combustion-engine cars.

Domestic natural gas supplies will replace our need for foreign oil. Independent studies continue to show that America's natural gas reserves are sufficient to meet all of our needs for well over 100 years.

Hey guys...I have been calling these guys every week since January. I do not care if they are in or out. They are hearing the word. A resolution is before the House, H.R. 1835. It is about Natural Gas. They need to hear from us.
I sure you have noticed that the price of Gas has gone up 1.00 since December. This means we keep paying Venezuela and Saudi Arabia vast sums of money to financially rape us. It is time to let it rip.
Call, write, email...do whatever it takes.…

I have made a committment to call my legislators every week until they support the Plan or get so sick of listening to my voice they actually tell me to quit.

I may be the only person who is NOT surprised that Congress is actually continuing to act like a bunch of spoiled brats. I expected the Republicans to act like the "loyal opposition" (oxymoronic at best)...and I have three of them as my reps in the congress.
Apparently the Democrats have decided to act like children also.
I think we need to make it clear that 1.4 million people want a change in the way things are done.
What would happen if a senator got 1.4 million phone calls this week?
Wha…

I am going to see my grandkids this weekend. I have a son in the Navy in Japan and a grandson in Iraq. I have six grandchildren under 10 years of age. I would like them to live in a world that offers security. I am a little strange about this. I think we need to secure our energy independence for them and for the 3rd world. I have friends there. They talk about the poverty and the hopelessness. Part of this is economic.
What would it be like if we could redo out own infrastructure to make ourse…

We must use every means at our disposal to contact out public leaders and make sure they understand we are at a critical moment and we expect action. We can act now and save ourselves years of delay and exposure. This is not a moment to be afraid...it is a moment to act. I intend to contact all of my congressional representatives today by phone and tell them to get off the dime.

The lowering of the price of oil has taken energy off the front page. I can hardly get anyone to talk about energy where I live. (KY) If they do speak of it they are interested in "clean coal" technology since we have lots of coal here, But that is still developmental. We need a plan that addresses the
present issues.

Now that the election is complete it is time for us to focus on Boone's 100 day strategy. Our job is a little harder with the economy in turmoil and the price of oil being down. We have to remember this is the point at which we failed in the 1980's. We have to keep the energy crisis at the front of the line even though the conditions have eased.
This is not a time to ease up. It is a time to RAMP UP !!! We have an opportunity to be proactive and address the matter NOW rather than wait until it…

I think we should be glad that Boone at least has a plan. A plan is more than I have heard from any elected official. It is easy to find all the problems that will come up. Bring on the problems. People thought JFK was nuts in 1961 for saying we would put a man on the moon in 10 years. For 5 years scientists debated the best way to get to the moon. Imagination got us an new way of thinking it through. Anyone remember what Neil Armstrong did in 1969?
"Drill, Baby, Drill" is not a plan. It is sur…

I think it is evident that we are passionate about this matter. I would suggest that we do away with the hyperbole and try to discuss this. I know you have already read this but I would like to stress that the Pickens Plan is a "bridge" to the future. It can also change as we go through the process.

The challenge we face is that the U.S. does not have an energy policy. Congress has failed and the Presidency has failed. It is a failure of imagination. When Jo…

The Washington Post reports today that with the fall of oil prices the "urgency" of alternatives will wane. It is up to us to make sure that our friends and the people in Washington do not forget what is at stake. We have an opportunity to deal with the energy crisis NOW. We should keep calling, keep emailing and keep alerting while we have the time. The oil crisis has already changed our habits. I was eating at a popular restaurant chain yesterday and I noticed that the prices were up at least…
