Nearly 1M without power 5 days after ice storm

This is an example of why I think we need to create a new power grid and not just upgrade the old one. We need to remove the possibility of these events repeating. Take the power cables underground like many big cities have already done, and protect them from such weather events that down pole and power lines. By BRUCE SCHREINER (AP)

Trees and power lines covered in ice Fr… Continue

EEStor Patents new energy storage technology

This is a game changer folks. An electrical energy storage device that is smaller and lighter than an equivalent lithium ion battery system, with no risks of explosion. Can out 52kWh of energy (the Tesla Roadster Li-Ion is a 53kWh unit) and that can get an electric drive auto about 250 miles between charges. Of course that is not considering such things and on vehicle solar or wind energy devices that could increase t… Continue

Delaying the inevitable?

Well, it seems that Bush has done it again. He is letting $17.6 Billion go to "bail out" big auto. With all their arrogance and wastefulness, by spring or early summer at the latest, they will be through all that money and will be begging for more. Can GM get the Volt done in time and sell it at a price that consumers will pay? If they can, it will make them turn around. If not, we are throwing money at them for naught. Continue

The Answer is Electric!

How do we solve the problem of high fuel costs and save the auto industry? Does the auto industry really need saving? I feel the answer is easier than what it seems to be. Electric is the answer, and it is the ONLY answer that will make sense in the long term. Look at how the nations freight is moved about. Diesel trucks transport goods, but that is small time when you compare it to freight trains. Those diesel locomotives move the bulk of freight from coast to coast, from the middle states to… Continue
