PickensPlan

Last Update 10/30/08...

Welcome!

I firmly believe that the Pickens Plan is the most important effort to be undertaken in generations. All who offer support are welcomed.

I will modify this post as I learn more and hopefully it will be a benefit to you (see the Bold text for recent additions). Let's dig in.

First, see the links on my page to extremely useful and important resources. They are important for this reason: As far as I can tell, the Pickens Plan is like D Day that led to the successful end of WWII (in Europe at least). If your member number is 5 million or below (and maybe even higher to some extent), then you and me are like the paratroopers that landed all over the French countryside. We are finding our way, wading through our surroundings and trying to identify friend from foe (the army), as well as friendly civilians already in country (the PP staff). I think I've found a native or two, like Mike, Pam and Ali (and T Boone of course), but they all seem pretty busy or quiet right now. Confirmed - 8/19/08: these guys are scrambling to cope with the overwhelming response. It is now my belief that they are hearing our requests and will provide website improvements and address our other concerns as soon as they can. 8/21/08: There seems to be an effort to bolster the organization by adding real breathing staff all over the country.

Many of you, upon reading through the discussions and trying to make sense of it all, will come to the conclusion that this group is like those people in LOST. Heck it just might be - I can't tell you. Other references are Lord of the Flies - where we are all the kids and the adult millionaires are lost at sea, or it could be the Matrix for obvious reasons. IMHO, it's like one or all of the above. 8/19/08: If it is Lord of the Flies, then some stragglers have possibly been spotted bobbing off shore. 8/21/08: One thing that is forthcoming is an org-chart of sorts to show what the core organization looks like and who to contact. I suspect that there will be multiple levels of volunteers, so keep those resumes handy if you are interested.

When you look around and try to find people to do stuff... get a nice big mirror, 'cause YOU will be a big part of it. And don't worry about what little time or experience you might think you have. We all bring something to the table. My personal bit will be laid out as time permits, but beyond trying to show you the way, I am building the next great wind turbine. [In case the powers that be want to get rid of me, I am leaving designs in safe locations so if I don't get them out there, someone else will].

8/21/08: I have confirmed that the PP is not contemplating a low-dollar-entry investment fund. Reference T Boone's Idea on this - which he's not changing. It is an often floated request that takes many forms, including stock symbol requests, Pickens Plan IPO, investment clubs, non-profits, co-ops, etc. This is one of the places where the mirror suggestion comes to mind. If there are investment bankers/Angel investors/VCs among us, it might be a worthwhile endeavor to talk with your lawyers and accountants about putting something together that the rest of the community can invest in. **Anyone with thoughts of investing should be sure to review "Investment Caution!!!" before embarking down that path.**

9/10/08: It looks like there might be some activity at hand - reference: Geoff Bailey - Sleuthed by Eric Lykins

10/30/08: I'm happy to report that the Organization has provided many changes to the site that we've been requesting. The Featured Members list now highlights more than just regional leaders - which is a good trade-off between having only one user type and two separate widgets. We also have a full-time Resource Page and the regional leaders have made it easier to get important issues relayed upwards.

As your next step, I recommend that you take a look at the Resource page and more info available on the Communications Page. Armed with that knowledge, you will be more productive and successful on the site. The Pickens Plan truly needs your help, so don't lose hope if you don't' find something to do right off the bat.

Consider this:
You are the Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Washington, Hamilton or Franklin of our time.

Now it's your turn to stand up and make a difference!

Thanks again and Welcome!

Don't wave the white flag yet. Money is always an issue, especially in our current crisis.

National & World Ag News Headlines
'Pickens Wind Plan' On Hold, Not Cancelled
USAgNet - 12/19/2008

As one of the most publicized endorsements of wind energy development in 2008, and as an indicator of increased public interest in renewable energy, many have asked what's happening with T. Boone Pickens' plan to develop massive megawatts of wind-generated electricity in Texas.

The Dallas News reports that, "Mesa Power, Mr. Pickens' power generation company, hasn't cancelled a $2 billion order with the General Electric Co. for 667 turbines, to be delivered in 2010. But Mr. Pickens can't finance the massive wind farm as quickly as planned.

"It's like my father once said. There are three reasons we can't do it: The first one is we don't have the money, and it doesn't make a difference about the other two," Mr. Pickens said in a telephone interview.

Pickens also said, "The credit crisis is hurting the project, and a drop in natural gas prices only makes it worse. Wholesale power prices follow natural gas prices, and a decline in those markets makes new power generation less appetizing for investors."

I feel like waving a White Flag of surrender since Boone surrendered or backed down from a good fight!
I dont get why Boone '''delayed''' or chickened out of a good fight for clean air.........

Hey Clynton

Love the blogg. informative, easy to read. well written. NICE.
If we can make it political suicide for Congress not to get on board, we can change history.
Numbers, numbers, numbers!

Best always!

Clynton,

I very much like and appreciate the manner in which you have addressed these various issues! It's an immensely beneficial service that you have performed here.

I am overjoyed to learn that an org-chart is forthcoming! When it does hit the site I'll have to go get a snickers bar and a Dr. Pepper because it will be a time for celebration.

I'll keep checking in for updates.

May we always desire to play a better game and create a better tomorrow (for everyone!).

Clynton, should your blog post be added at the very top of the Comm Supp group's Resource Guide? Might go over better with new members, rather than just presenting the Table of Contents, then projects, then ... etc. I think your language would make the "Resource Guide" more "user-friendly." If you concur, please go ahead and make the edits / additions at your convenience. Thanks again. Ron
