As I listen to the comments on the talk shows about
T. Boone Pickens; and there is a real
reluctance on the part of non-energy people to believe that an oil man would put
his country ahead of personal profits.
Having worked with oil men in
the fields of Bakersfield and drilling operations for
geothermal in Nevada, I came to respect the oil men as
no-nonsense people who accept no excuses for failure; not in themselves nor in their men.
We have
an oilman who speaks with great plainness on a number of energy topics, and I am one who has been dedicated for
the past seven years to expanding energy and education in my region and on the internet, we are humbled by the courage of
one of the first pioneers to leave the corporate herds in the energy industry, and show a great deal of
common sense that anyone in America can understand.
In December of 2007, I first started posting videos that I found on YouTube from
a news program that interviewed Pickens and first
posted on GreenEnergyTV.com under wind power development. At that time, I was collecting videos found on youtube to demonstrate what we were calling
the infinite energy spectrum; trying to
determine which energy technologies were feasible and which were being represented as a traveling show.
At the time, there were about
300 videos on GreenEnergyTV.com, a site dedicated to
the idea that we could use videos in education...my favorite class in high school was audio visual, going to the classrooms with a movie projector to show science and history movies on reel-to-reel...yes...in my high school there were reel-to-reel movie projectors; I learned more that year because I was starting to learn from videos what I was not prepared to learn until my senior year.
So after
I discovered youtube.com in 2006, while working on the assembly line at GE wind power plant as contract labor, I found out that the internet was
starting to produce viral videos, on sites like
youtube.com,
prior to the google.com takeover of the video site; every corporation on the planet was starting to make videos,
trying to create a viral video about their company' s products and services. It took me
a whole year to study the video and viral marketing claims before we started to see
our own success with blogging new ideas, with linking to social networks, and
whether it is more effective to concentrate time and energy to build up one site or to
blog our message everywhere and see which sites were most responsive and
which message would resonate with the young or old, and
how to reach the non-energy people.
So this is
how we came to the use of radio from a site called
Change.org and learned about
BlogTalkRadio.com and one of my corporate
sponsors said that we should start a radio show about energy and education; so I signed up for the site and started talking to other supporters from the past five years of meeting with organizers and contractors/developers and spend all of my time on the phone...
why not get our message on talkradio??
So I met the CEO of
AlternativeEnergy.com and mentioned to him that I wanted to do a radio show and he let me post the idea to his energy experts team and the month of
June 2008 we launched EnergyTalk Radio as part of the
BlogTalkRadio.com network,
with 20 hours of LIVE shows every week; with the best minds and hearts on
our Ning network family, which now includes
PickensPlan.com and several
other NING networks, such as
www.BioLiberty.net/groups and
GreenMechSolutions.ning.com
The
growth of the Pickens site proves that social networking is a force for real change and can stimulate
the creation of businesses and jobs and trainings in green awareness, or what we are calling GAT_Think...and will become
part of our discussions on our radio shows, in an open forum for
experts to answer questions of people just getting started in the green energy postwar economy which we are building
prior to any election. We discussed today the importance of
helping young people get connected to mentors in the social networks; even
sports coaches can become energy mentors for young people who
may depend on their leadership to find jobs and technical training in our energy economy.
So All of you
Pickens Army Leaders, come
visit our site, listen to our shows and join the conversations already in progress.
