Letter in responce to my urging to support movement on new energy policy.

Dear Mr. Burbank:

Thank you for your letter expressing support for increased energy efficiency and reduced fossil fuel emissions. It was very good to hear from you.

Like you, I believe that increasing our use of alternative sources of energy, renewable energy resources and developing conservation and efficiency technologies will help our country meet its future energy needs.

Throughout my Senate tenure I have consistently supported efforts to diversify our energy portfolio to offset fossil fuel use, and I assure you that I will continue to fight for such measures. Our nation needs to take meaningful action to protect our health, environment, and our country. I will continue to work with my Senate colleagues to push for increased conservation incentives, adequate consumer protection, and renewable development that safeguards our environment. By working in a strong, bipartisan manner, I hope we can develop a real comprehensive energy policy that provides both short and long-term solutions to our energy crises.

As a member of both the Senate Budget Committee and the Appropriations Committee, I have consistently supported increased funding for these federal energy efficiency programs and other similar efforts that encourage conservation. Reducing wasteful energy use is a responsibility we all must accept, and programs like Energy Star afford consumers easy choices in the marketplace that produce real results. These are important efforts, and I will continue to advocate for increased spending of such initiatives as the appropriations process moves forward.

Please know that as the 110th Congress progresses, I will keep your thoughts on this important issue in mind, and consider all commonsense energy measures that come before the Senate. Thank you for contacting me about this important issue, and please keep in touch.

I hope all is well in Lynnwood.

Mr. Clynton has it right. Also, "comprehensive" is double talk for if we do anything it will not be much and accomplish even less. Why do you think Congress approval ratings are high single digits to low double digits? ? I do think we need to barrage Congress with appeals so that eventually it will get through to them that we voters are taking this issue seriously. Thank you Dan Burbank.

Nice form letter. Will he or won't he sign the pledge. Who's running against him? Did he vote to support the extension of the energy tax credit. He doesn't seem to be aware of RENEWABLES!

I read Inslee's - I agree with you - this is what I just got from Hillary

Thank you for your e-mail. It is very important to me to know the issues that are of concern to you. A growing number of my constituents are now choosing to communicate with me via e-mail. I hope you will understand that, because of the volume and range of e-mails I receive, it can take some time to send a response that specifically addresses the subject raised in your message. I do, however, want to let you know immediately that your message has been received. Hearing from you and others through e-mail helps me to quickly learn the views and interests of New Yorkers and others, which is very helpful to me in my work in the United States Senate. I hope you will continue to monitor my work through my website at http://clinton.senate.gov, and I welcome hearing from you. Sincerely, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

All,
I posted this to contrast it with Rep Inslee's letter posted earlier.

Dan,
I have deluged the poor senator with three emails over the past four days, all different but all on the same topic, energy. I have kept each one semi short and each somewhat different so she or her staff don't think I'm an atomotron. Lord knows they know I'm mentally ill.

A great response to you from a great senator following in Henry M. Jackson's shoes.
Sincerely,
Richard

When I read a letter like this I get so flustrated . THEY JUST DON'T GET IT . How did we manage to get such a bunch of dummy do nothings up there?
They give rebates if you purchase a nat. gas car , but the rebate expires in 2010 & that is when the Nat. gas cars will be available. Did they plan it that way ?

Senator Murry wrote, "I hope we can develop a real comprehensive energy policy that provides both short and long-term solutions to our energy crises."

Is a comprehensive energy policy forthcoming? Comprehensive energy policies should have been written and in effect over the past 30 years. How far we have NOT progressed. It stupefies me how ignorance intermingles with ignoring and indifference.

Thanks for your effort, Dan. Perhaps Senator Murry will follow-up. At least you received a response.
