Alternative Energy must be viewed as a safeguard for our future economic stability

We cannot allow the current economic volatility to reshape our thinking on alternative and renewable energy production. While today's markets show us the signs of our practice of shipping our wealth overseas to purchase petroleum based fuel, even with gas prices dropping, we can never recover the wealth we are giving to other countries. This is particularly true as we view the loss of America based jobs to outsourcing into other countries. Just as we are continually focused upon military strength, we must also band together to remain continually focused upon energy sources, energy production within our own country, the retention of American dollars within our own country, job production for American citizens through American energy production, and the security this gives our country. We must be able to understand and view the creation of alternative and renewable energies within the United States of America as a national security top priority agenda item.

I agree whole heartedly. I hear people talking about how expensive installing PV solar systems can be. Cost prohibitive blah blah blah, funny thing is you don't hear the same message coming from someone who buys a Harley for $30K or a Hummer for $50K or a RV for $100k. I don't see people getting a return off of those purchases but we spend extra $$$ and don't complain a bit we brag about it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against recreation. We have a bike we love to take on cruises. I am just tired of hearing people rant about the "profitability" of solar for consumers. If you buy one and your electric bill goes goes away then you got what you paid for.

Using our alternatives is not a matter of "want" anymore it's now a matter of "need". Europe is investing in alternatives as we speak. We are sitting here squabbling about how much it costs and other countries are setting themselves up to profit from our apathy. They are using solar and wind right now in England and other places that have much much less sun than most US cities enjoy. Why??? Because they are clean "no fuel" alternatives. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price of oil is down not because oil bosses wanted to give us a break. It's because we started pushing ourselves away from the table. Don't be fooled. Big oil doesn't have our best interests at heart and they are very savvy. They will do ANYTHING to keep us from pursuing the alternatives including making it tougher for us to get our hands on them..
