I just got back from a conference in DC, where congressional representatives and others were discussing ways to invest in America again. Read about it here:
Isaiah Poole's Blog. Notice that everyone in Washington is throwing numbers out as to where to spend money and how much. Note too that our voice needs to be added to help Congress realize that renewable energy is the best way to solve a lot of the problems we are facing.
There were arguments made suggesting that the government shouldn't be afraid of deficit spending during a recession. There was an emphasis on transportation and infrastructure spending - and even an idea to create an IMF-type internal bank to invest directly in America. What struck me was that although
a report was released by Eric Lotke with pages about spending on energy, it was not a major topic at the conference. I suppose the reason is that no panelist was responsible for the subject. By partnering, we can change that.
I found Eric and the other members of
Campaign for America's Future to be very cordial and welcoming. It was obviously that they have a top-notch organization, and more obvious still that we have compatible goals. I believe that spending on American renewable energy companies is the best way to improve our national security, while at the same time, supporting millions of manufacturing jobs. I strongly suggest that our two organizations work together in the future - with energy experts associated with the Pickens Plan filling the slot for energy and folks associated with Eric's organization speaking about investment channels and investment needs.
Now it's your turn. What conferences are you attending and what insights or action items can you share about them?
