Right now with oil under $50 a barrel the following may seem not current. However, we know OPEC will cut production and do all it can to raise the price of oil. So, in the spirit of OPEC and the season I thought you may enjoy the following.

I hope St Nick forgives me, but I couldn't resist this. Please feel free to use it. All I ask is if you cite who you got it from.

The Night before the E Crisis

T’was the night before The E Crisis, when all through the US of A
Not a light was to be seen, not until day.
The thermostats were all set gingerly with care,
In hopes that the energy crisis would soon not be there;

The citizens were all shivering in their beds,
While visions of cheap energy danced in their heads;
And donkeys and elephants of the state,
Had just settled down for a long winter’s debate,

When out of the house there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my perch to see what was the matter,
Away to the gallery I flew like a flash,
Tore open the doors and watched them throw over the cash.

The cries generated by partisan politics below created such a din
I wondered what state of confusion they were in,
When, what to my wondering mind should spill,
But an expensive entourage presenting a very large energy bill,

With a very bold leader, so lively and correct,
I knew in a moment he must be from OPEC.
More rapid than eagles his nations they came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:

Now, Algeria! Now, Venezuela! Libya and Kuwait!
On Iran, on Iraq! Now Arabia and Emirate,
Gouge Indonesia, Gouge Nigeria, Gouge Qatar the U.S State

To the top of the ledger! Let’s make em toil!
As we charge more! Charge charge more! Charge more for OPEC Oil!

As heating bills before the wild increases fly,
When they meet with peak oil, oh my.

So up to the house the OPEC nations they flew,
With their hands full of bills, that all were due.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard from the news
The excuses and each little congressman’s views

As I drew in my hand in disbelief and was beginning to frown
To the podium the OPEC spokesman came with a bound.
Dressed all in finery, from head to toe
And clothes all adorned with jewels that glow,

A bundle of bills, he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a grafter just opening his pack.

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as snow:
The top of a ledger he held tight in his hands.

And the greed permeated from his sweat glands;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of petroleum jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right evil old elf,

And I cried when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had everything to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And emptied all the treasury; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his middle finger aside of his nose,
And giving a disdainful nod, out of the chamber he rose;

He sprang to his jet, to his pilot gave a whistle,
And away they all flew with the speed of a missile.
But I heard them exclaim, ere he drove flew out of sight,
"Happy Energy Crisis to all, to all a dark and cold night!

Nice Keith, but
"He sprang to his jet, to his pilot gave a whistle,
And away they all flew with the speed of a missile.
But I heard them exclaim, ere he drove flew out of sight,
"Happy Energy Crisis to all, to all a dark and cold night!"

Continuation

His jet now reaching maximum speed
Still sweating and looking out of his luxury seat
Down below in the desert sand, were Energy harvesting trees
Please God forgive, I want in - on a deal with energy Trees

My desert kingdom will become green and fertile
Forget the Opec, Now I want trees, over a hundred mile

Sounds like the grinch in a different costume. Very creative. Maybe after having a chuckle, your readers will realize that we are only a hairs-breadth away from this nightmare and awaken from their slumbering to take action.

I did not vote for Obama because I thought he a showhorse, not a workhorse and had many doubtful relationships including his pastor and his benefactors. I still wonder about his devotion to the United States. Will he defend us in a showdown with Islam? I'll let him prove himself. God I hope he can keep a suave tongue in his head and end my embarassment at every word that comes out of the mouth of our president. He has made good beginning. We have so much important work to do.

LOL very nice. We cannot stop. The gasoline refiners are cutting back, they are not making billions in profits.
And OPEC is cutting back, which will cause another supposed shortage, and who pays, we do, US!
I guess its all the drugs in our water and poisons in our air, has adled our brains, short circuited the survival instinct.
