Congressional Vote on Extension of Tax Benefits for Alternative Energy Investments

It is my understanding that Congress will again take up the issue of the extension of expiring tax benefits for investments in alternative energy--I think they expire in the next year. In the last go around, I believe the democrats opposed the extension because the republicans rejected some conditions on oil producers etc.

ARE ANY OF YOU AS SICK OF THIS PARTISAN CRAP AS I AM!

I THINK THIS UPCOMING DEBATE IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR ARMY TO MAKE THEIR FIRST HUGE CONTRIBUTION TO THE PUBLIC DEBATE ON AMERICA'S ENERGY INDEPENDENCE!

There are on this site at least the beginnings of lists of congressional representatives mail and email addresses that each member could use to contact their reps and demand that they pass an extension of the existing alternative energy tax benefits and if they want to keep their jobs they should increase the benefits and extend them for 5-10 years so that investors, researchers, manufacturers and developers can make long term plans for the development of American alternative energy sources without fear of being hung out to dry by political changes.

get busy folks, 45,000 of us can make a difference in the next two weeks--dont think our numbers are too small! Most Americans will not be contacting their reps about this issue at all, so if we do it in mass, we will send a clear message like the one that the BLM got over their moratorium.

Has Al Gore shown any support for PickensPlan? This is the ideal project for him to back in his quest to halt so-called global warming. Anyone know of any comments of support from Gore?

If we make offices and companies turn off lights at certain hour and only allow one security light in the building to remain on,nationwide, and lower the highway speeds to 55,it worked in the 70's, open up the capped off oil wells in the U.S., and get refineries going it will at least lower prices till we can get our turbines and windmills up to necesary production, and of course VOTE REPUBLICIAN!!!!!

Get the BIG OIL companies to pay for the renewable energy tax benefits!!!!
or maybe a 1/2 cent per gallon federal tax per gallon of gas.
Either way, this hold -up is putting a huge hold up on future start-ups on renewable energy
projects across the nation.
The gov't has a way of "talking the talk" now they need to "walk the walk" and get it done!

Hi Kathryn, why dont you believe in subsidies? Because of Ethanol, which was an ill advised handout to the farmbelt? Is that it? You consider any subsidies of value, like tax free churches, R&D for new technology/medical research, homeowner support like FHA/VA, Import/Export financing to name just a few? Most of us here in Boone's army no that alternative energy is a much better solution than foreign oil for our energy needs--who cares if the politicians have brains, they all want to be re-elected and their are in the business of taking donations and handing out favors, we want ours the heck with any others, they are irrevelant to our mission.

I don't believe in these subsidies. Look at Ethanol -- subsidized up the gazoo but not feasible. You are assuming politicians have brains.

The tax benefits bill needs to be passed, however there also needs to be some further considerations included in it. For instance, we should not be subsidizing biodiesel that is going to Europe, as was brought out on Fox News. If the govt. is going to subsidize anyone , it should provide the incentives to the farmer for growing oil rich crops, privided they are grown only for fuel production and are not food crops. There are some plants out there that produce large amounts of oil that cannot be used for food and can be grown on marginal land, and it is drouth resistant. There is a company in El Paso that is gearing up to produce millions of gallons of bio-diesel and will be collecting $1.00/gal from the govt. They are going to be getting their Jatropa seed from mexico. There are thousands of acres of marginal land in West Texas that could be put into Jatropa production with just a little financial boost. This appears to me to be a good relative short term possibility.
