Last night while watching Washington Journal on CSPAN (yea i know i have no life, lol), I was very impressed by the two Legislative Representatives being interviewed about ENERGY INDEPENDENCE. John Petersen from Pennsylvania and Neil Ambercrombie from Hawaii were speaking about their congressional "grassroots effort" to remove the obstacles associated with implementing alt energy policies. Their group (its not a standing committee)"House Energy Working Group" is manned by members from both sides of the aisle looking for solutions to the situation we currently find ourselves in with regard to the (failed) national energy policy. They are hoping to have a Bill in the Legislature by September, addressing a National Energy Policy which includes realistic support for the use of ALL FORMS OF ENERGY GENERATION. They also spoke to the idea that they are looking to the American Public for ideas to include in their bill, "we don't know everything" said Mr Petersen. One of them was incredulous that the tax credit/benefit associated with buying a hybrid, has a cap so only a finite number of hybrid owners would benefit from this legislation, or that the tax credits associated with alt energy plants like solar and wind expire every year. And these are a couple examples of some types of ludicrous policies they want to change.

Earlier in the evening the House financial Services Committee was being briefed on Monetary Policy and the Economy by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. During that briefing Chairman Bernanke made a statement that we (America) need to pursue energy generation from alternative sources, he also remarked about the devastating effects on our economy from our failure to be energy independent.

I am encouraged that at the very least, the BUZZ in Congress acknowledges our need to become Energy Independent.

I've heard John Petersen and he seems to have his game together...

DAMN! I just said something positive about a politician!
