Reliance on Foreign Oil is a Threat to National Security

I have long held this belief, and was excited to hear Rep. from Pennsylvania John Peterson voice this on TV the other night. Apparently I'm not the only one in America with this belief. What a relief. But we can take it a step further, dependence on oil itself is a threat to National Security. I don't believe we can wean ourselves from the use of oil this year or even next year... but, sometime, we need to. It's a finite resource. If I keep drinking from my coffee cup, no matter how sparingly, it will eventually become empty. A fundamental element to our National Security is the transition from fuel sources that eventually become depleted, to those that are always there... think wind, think sun, think geothermal, think alternatives to oil!

I'm am brought to tears by the messages that people on this site are sharing with each other, by the open letter provided on MRW's page, by the eager desire to help I see voiced everywhere on this site. I'd like to be a part of a hundred million marching in the streets of Washington, but thats not an option for me. What is an option is the INFLUENCE we can exert through letter writing. Our Best Action at this moment in history is to be a Collective Lobbyist for Independence from Foreign Oil and the use of Solar, Wind et. by contacting our elected representatives on a daily basis, as advocates for this cause.

This morning I listened to a guest on Coast to Coast. His name is David Blume. Very sharp guy who is tired of getting screwed by the Government and Oil Companies. The best way not rely on the Government or The Oil Companies is to set up local network of suppliers, farmers and distributors , any size town or community, to produce Ethanol. E85 can be made from rice, beets, oranges, apples, molasses and many other food and vegetables that are now being thrown in the garbage. The supply is very large and can be picked up from Supermarkets and Cafés for free or a small cost. The best part is a ethanol conversion kit is easy to install and costs only about $400. The supplier will need to build a still or buy one for around $500. Ethanol works very well in cars and does no damage to the engine. There are some good videos on You Tube.

Very cool deal. No watching the price of crude oil, refineries shut downs or wars.

I just bought Mr. Blume's "how to book". More latter after I read the book.

"free at last, free at last, free at last".
