PickensPlan

I am seeing all kinds of great ideas being tossed around. This is really great.

But, and this is a BIG BUT! I am really afraid that many are going off on tangents that will jeopardize the collective group.

We need to form a few leaders to coral the mass into focused directions, or you will have mass attrition levels and total chaos running rampant. The major media companies would eat that up!!! Don't give them the pleasure!!!

I suggest that you get a tightly focused video on the home page steering people in the direction that needs to be taken.

Here are a few groups I see that need to be developed NOW!!!

These groups need to be entirely separate from the groups that any user can create...

Steering Group
Technical Group
Policy Group
Evangelism Group
Implementation Group
Localization Group

Mark,
I strongly agree with you.
Here is what I did this week in my city. I met with the Economic Development Commission.

They are just starting to explore Green/Clean and I asked to get in touch with the top 3 people in town who get things done. I'm meeting with a top lobbyist and others over the next few weeks.

Locally we don't have a "working" board about Green/Clean. That was key to me. I see there are boards and organizations but they don't have bite.

I'll volunteer my time to help you get this going. I really like your ideas and the committees you want to start.

I'd like to do that at a local level as well. It would be great to have a national Pickens board and then bring it down to local level. Let's talk.

First we need to build our base, trust in the pickensplan, and stay calm. I realize we have all been waiting for something like this for a long time we need to take it slow and wait for T. Boone Pickens to guide us. I want to pack it all up, find Mr. Pickens and work by his side 24/7. But the reality is we need to build our base of support and this will continue to take more time. We live in a democracy, let the people have their say with all due respect.

This is a well organized mission and we will move forward into an energy progressive independent country. There is not turning back now. It is nice to have leaders out there, your time to shine is comming.

Peace Out

Energy is not only a concern to the US but many other countries are facing similar issues.
This is a link to a website in India that has much useful information.

I would think the first thing to do would be to define the issues. Wind turbines are not an issue, they are going up all over the place whether they are being put up by Pickens or other oil and energy groups.
The use of NG is a possibility but it is a NON-RENEWABLE fuel and is firmly anchored to the oil industry.
Wind turbines are RENEWABLE forms of energy. This is very important to recognize the difference between NON-RENEWABLES versus RENEWABLE.
Any push at NON-RENEWABLE energy is wasted time and energy because natural gas can be manipulated in the same way as oil.
Any money spent converting your old car to natural gas would potentially be wasted because as soon as demand for NG increases so too will the price. NG at the refueling station here in Midland Texas is at $4.25 per gge. Not much of a savings. Other places in the country are as low as 0.91 cents per gge.
The small device you install in your garage...IF you have gas running to your home has a cost of around $1500.00 plus the cost of conversion of your car done by a certified technician is around $5000.00. Not alot of saving in all that. If you do choose that route be forewarned the unit that goes in your garage takes 16 hours to fill up a 16 gal. tank. Then there are the emissions people to deal with when converting a gas car to a NG car. There are laws against tampering with catalytic converters.
Unless Mr. Pickens plans on building his own grids the electric companies will still control the price of electricity.
Maybe the first step is to define the problems.
Once the problems have been defined then finding solutions will be much easier.

I am uncertain if there is a solution to greed. You would think if there were we would of solved that issue long ago.

In my humble the real solutions are biofuels and electricity. Both of these are RENEWABLE forms of energy. The use of trains to transport goods from town to town is another viable solution and would require a rehab of US railways. And last of all but not least we might just have to reconsider how we all get from point A to point B. Public transportation in many areas of the US are non-existant.

So yes we need to narrow our focus but at the same time we need all these ideas flying so we can choose the best path.

Education about energy---how about teleseminars. invite the legislators! Just like the internet...can't seem to get the web designers to understand the businesses that they service to create the ultimate site for a business...Hire the obama team!
Question is the earth running out of oil? Will it cause the earth to heat up?
Will Yellowstone blow? Im concerned that mother nature provides but we have been abusing the earth and I fear the consequences

You can "Fight City Hall" by removing them in November. My vote will no longer go to candidates who continue to perpetuate the same old Bovine Excrement. It time "We the People" take back our countryand common sense prevails... and the Pickens Plan may just be the catalyst. I'm ready to throw my tea in the harbor.

Neah, I like the diversity. Even when... ESPECIALLY when folks talk out thier butt on a point. (Someone is bound to re-butt with a load of links when that happens.)
This isn't somthing that should be taken lightly, and there are good reasons this hasn't been done before. Mr.Pickens HAS established leaders, and this site provides these forums TO GET communities talking abroad. Besides - Alot of this disorganised banter takes old point from new angles and makes new points on old discussions. It's good.

Please remain calm...Don't panic...take a breath! You need to be assured that their are alot of very intelligent, motivated, organized and educated people in our great democracy.
This isn't our first Rodeo!
Follow the very basic, tried and true methods of organizational structure from the bottom up. Define your purpose, mission, goals. Elect some officers if that makes you feel more secure. Educate each other. Learn the strengths within your group, define an action plan, stir gently and serve.
There is a lot of literature in the library about how to be an effective voice in the wilderness. The most basic lesson first off is, remain calm, become familiar with your surroundings, DON'T PANIC!
