We Must Stand Together, or Certainly We Shall Be Left Swinging in the Wind!!

We must be willing to follow someone. I completely agree with the analogy of a Camel being the Thoroughbred Horse Designed by Committee.

T. Boone Pickens is willing to lead us into the next generation of power generation and use. We applaud his actions. We are willing to follow his ideas and his plans.

We cannot degenerate this into a mob of "Chiefs" all demanding the others to be the "Indians". No offense to any Native Americans, it just happens to fall into the easy to understand verbology, right along with "Too Many Cooks Spoil the Sauce/Soup".

We completely agree with the ideas of keeping our wonderful government out of this. We have been legislated to death with partisan crap politicking. If our governmental officials cannot learn to agree with the need for these changes, they should be replaced with forward thinking "Civil Servants". They are Supposed to be working For US...Far too many of them are only in office to get the recognition, or work for a small portion of our society. I know our Founding Fathers did not foresee the miasmic mess that Congress and the Senate have become. There is so much infighting and favoritism that I am amazed they can see the light of day.

Windpower is a fantastic, renewable way to keep our luxuries. Solar power is another way. Using Natural Gas as an alternative fuel is a good idea. The implementation of this WILL be difficult. I feel that it will be a segue though. Natural Gas is not an unlimited source either. I understand that we need the time to make change happen. Nothing that is worth anything is easy. I believe that electric cars may wind up being the way to go as a forever alternative.

Ed Begley Jr. has it Going On. His roof is covered with Solar Panels, he cooks in his back yard with a Solar Oven, charges his electric car with the panels and the maintainence is simply brushing off the panels with a broom. I realize that solar panels cost a lot to install. My father, when he was alive in Florida, designed a simple solar heating system for his pool from PVC pipe attached to his roof. We Can Do This! Change is hard. BUT if we are not willing to follow someone into the future, we will Fail as certainly as the sun rises in the East every day.

We are Completely Addicted to energy use. We are the biggest consumers of all forms of energy. We love our air conditioning and our cars are a necessity (especially for those of us who live 5 miles from the nearest town) and although we have cut almost 10 BILLION miles off of our driving, the Greed of the Futures market participants is still driving the cost of the gasoline that is left up and they CROW about it!!

It makes me want to throw up! They steal the money from all of us. Poor, Wealthy, Middle Class and every gradient in between. The entire system of government and our economy is rife with corruption which makes the whole battle seem fruitless. We have to stay banded together and not let dissension creep in.

I am in this for our grandchildren, our children and ourselves. If I can come up with enough money to invest in a single wind turbine on our property, I will do it. We are not wealthy, our land has been in the family for over 105 years. Simply paying our bills is rough in this economy, there is very little to go around for all the needs.

We are all trying to make ends meet and sometimes it feels like all our efforts are for naught. We must keep trying. Giving up is Not an option.

I see your point Greg, I did not mean that we don't need any leaders. I meant that at first it seemed like everyone was trying to pull the rope in a different direction. I just don't want this effort to become a "laughing point" or a "joke" the the folks in authority.

We are together and want to work With everyone and find a way to bridge the gaps that keep us apart. That is where your point of too many discussions and not enough projects comes in.

I am speaking with some of the leaders in our locale about setting up committees to devise ways for those of us with a place to join up with those with cash to invest.

Keep Looking Forward, and TY for your input.

I also agree that we need to stand together and sometimes one of us will get outside the lines drawn, but first of all, the lines must be drawn by someone.
If Boone really IS the leader, he needs to start leading in areas that can get things done, not just discussed.
I agree with his effort to build the Brand, but you also have qualified people that can help him lead. You say you don't want chiefs, but I say, you already have them by default.
If you expect Boone to do all the leading, you will wear the guy out. If you have too many leading, you have chaos and disorder.
If you have a few leading with leader input, you have excellent communications and more efficient discussion.
And if you don't want chiefs, you don't want order, and that is my belief.
The fewer there are, the better, but the world revolves around countries with many chiefs. Some countries actually do better than the USA.
So how do you keep freedom and yet support order in this organization? Get one National coordinator and a few grass roots organizers and get the job done.
In any good endeavor you need controls and checks for dangerous drains on energy. In our organization there are not too many controls and a lot of energy goes to discussions and not to doing projects.
I believe we need minor controls that help, and major access to those that can say "yes" to projects or say "No" and offer some good ways to make that change to a yes. So, I say, we need a national coordinator for Picken's Plan...ASAP. Gregor Smith gregors@att.net
