Does Anybody Care?

Is anybody out there? Does anybody care?

Those words have been ringing in my head for a month, just can't get them to out. One of my favorite movies is “1776”, that delightful musical about the Declaration of Independence. The leading character is John Adams who sings this song to express his frustration that people are not listening or acting on Independence.

I think this song should be the official song of the Pickens Plan. Isn't that what T. Boone Pickens is asking? Do we care in $700 billion of American's money is going overseas each and every year. Do we care that much of this money is going into the hands of terrorist? Do we care that we must keep this money here, providing more jobs and a better life for ourselves and families?

Of course we do!! That is why almost a 100, 000 have signed up on the PickensPlan.com site in a short month. It is our little way of saying that we are here and we care. And we are going to bring about change.

The first time I heard it was over 30 years ago coming home from work and it was on my Atlanta NPR station. When I got home, it wasn't finished so I sat in the car to listen to the rest of it. I recently found a DVD of the movie - which I promptly bought. We are indeed at a crisis as great as the one that brought our nation into being but those who recognize the threat and are prepared to meet it are always fewer than those who don't. There is a maxim that says, "There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who have ask what happened?" Even though there are more who have no idea what happened than there are of those who make things happen still activists often succeed because ACTION IS MORE POWERFUL THAN INDOLENCE AND APATHY.

Where can I get a badge like yours - "Declaration of Independence"?

Say, did you say you got some yard signs? How about we put some up in the Omaha area? I can probably get at least three lawns in completely different neighborhoods to display them, and if we act quickly, my father in law would put one in his yard in Apple Valley, MN perhaps.
