An Idea for A Real NEW Way
I propose that we make our government really effective.
In order to be efficient, each component in any machine must be made of solid material and contribute to the overall direction of the machine.
The machinations of our government are broken. No longer are the operations clear; are the goals understood; nor the direction known.
The known items, in our government, are corrupt and defective and need to be replaced.
Not repaired but rather REPLACED.
As we all know, this group of broken down professionals(?) consists of individuals who usually walk into office as thousandaires and miraculously retire as millionaires. They are set for life. The new Elite!
We, commoners, have effectively been eliminated from this, very lucrative, process.
The reason is MONEY.
(It takes money to make money!?!)
One idea which will remove money as the issue which prevents REAL PEOPLE from running for Political Office is to make the playing field level.
In other words:
Any person who wishes to run for office will have to qualify with the following minimum standards:
A US Citizen
A Registered Voter
A Property Owner in the region they want to represent.
(A good start...needs a few more qualifying factors. Any ideas?)
Any person who wishes to run for office will be afforded the following:
An election budget of $1 million from the government.
Each candidate, in a particular race, will be allowed the following, no more, no less.
The candidates can NOT spend any of their own money nor anyone elses money on their campaign.
Also:
(4) TV Ads, one per major national broadcaster.
(5) sets of flyers per election. One for every Registered Voter in the applicable area.
(2) 30 minute radio ads on regional radio stations.
(This list could be modified, if required, up to a maximum $1 million. This is a number I chose for simplicity. The idea can be modified, as required, to make sense on a broader scale.)
All other contacts with their potential constituents will have to be face-to-face. A car/driver budget could be factored in. The regional areas are not unrealistic large.
No money will actually pass into the hands of the candidates. Chits/Contracts/etc... are to be pre-estaablished with the above broadcasting entities and printing companies. Rotating contracts can be factored in to spread the wealth around and to make the publications locally available.This saves on shipping and local business will get in on the action.
This idea alone will allow the Constitution to be properly adhered to as this is the original intent of the founding fathers. A rotating group of farmers, laborors, executives, etc...to come into DC, make a difference and then go home and let the next group come in.
Ideas have been squashed and ignored, in the past, by our leaders due to political reasons. I believe new minds will bring in the real change this country needs. There will be no worry about re-election as you can only serve for one term. You can run again, but you have to sit out one term in between your service. You can do this a maximum of 2 times per office.
Real people with real world experience usually have real answers.
I would enjoy becoming free from foreign oil and be self-sufficient but there are so many obstacles in the way we may never realize this.
We need to make the correct changes in our government in order to resolve our current issues rapidly.
Spending money properly may best be controlled by those who have seen the bottom, who have resided at or near the bottom, who have been productive at the bottom and who have succeded and moved up from the bottom. In other words: Real People.
I like progressive ideas like this one.
