Back in September we reported that French Car-maker PSA had teamed up with Mitsubishi to make an electric vehicle based on the zippy i-MiEV. Well, this week it seems that the partnership has come to fruition, after Citroen unveiled the C-Zero, an all-electric car set to hit the showrooms late next year.
The compact C-Zero features an identical drivetrain to the i-MiEV, with a lithium-ion battery powering a 64bhp electric motor.
Drivers will be able to fully charge the car in six hours via a regular mains socket, allowing a range of 80 miles. Alternatively, an 80 per cent charge takes just half an hour using a 400V supply. In terms of performance, the Citroen press release says the C-Zero can zip from 0-62mph in 15 seconds, and accelerate from 37-56mph (50-70km/h) in six seconds. Top speed is a respectable 80mph.
The C-Zero will ship with power steering, ABS, traction control, ESP, electric windows, six airbags and air conditioning as standard.
Citroen has told reporters that the C-Zero will be commercially available at the end of 2010 and, although no prices have been confirmed yet, insiders expect that it will cost around £10,000 ($16,500).

I wouldn't be too quick to discount the possibilities of this vehicle. As we move forward to more communities developed to be self sufficiant with shorter commute times and distances, I believe this could become popular. Yet another thing that may take some time, but does have good value.
When I asked my Roman cab driver about the "Smart Car", he corrected me, wildly gesturing with his hands, "You mean-a Stupid Car!"
It doesn't hold much and you get killed if you're hit by anything, which happens a lot in Italy. This looks just like the Stupid Car he fingered. It might be good as a golf cart.

Hey Ron,
I have to agree... I certainly would not want to be in one of those on the highways in our area. A motorcycle is probably safer... you at least have a chance to get out of the way. These things are better for the little European Villages or Golf Course communities.
Tesla is made in the U.S... they have their act together. I wonder what they could do with $40 Billion? (Not that I condone bailouts... but if you want to give the money out... you might as well give it to somebody with cutting edge ideas / technology.)

i guess the video was to abstract for me,they should have took more pride in their car and said more about it.i will watch it again and see what i missed
MOST AMERICANS ARE AFRAID OF LITTLE PUDDLE-JUMPERS LIKE THIS! PERFECT FOR A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY FOR SHOPPING OR GOING TO THE GOLF COURSE, SO WHY CAN'T GM AND FORD GET THEIR STUFF TOGETHER FOR A FAMILY-SIZED AND UP-SCALE VERSION WITH A 200-300 MILE DRIVING RANGE AT LEAST?

Mr. Chance - 80 miles between charges will kill it, too small for soccer moms, too small for me to take my dogs to the park. Buy an HEV (hybrid electric vehicle). Buy FORD.
