In Frio County, we had a recent gas blowout. (Nov 2010) H2S blew from the well. Levels were low and risk was minor according to the Railroad Commission. The rotten egg smell did make Pearsall residents sick for a day or so.  But the real danger in fracking is the risk to the water table.( ask a water well driller)  If the gas driller does not properly follow procedures, he could contaminate the good water with the bad water. I don't see Mr Pickens being that concerned but implementing and enforcing  new safety standards could mitigate the contamainttion risk.

Watching the C-Span discussion on Fracking yesterday, a lot of discussion focused on the Fracking solution. It's toxic. It becomes even more toxic as it is withdrawn for a well subsequent to a Fracking event. How is it disposed of? it's pumped down an "injection well"... What is an "injection well". In OK for example, 20% of it is evaporated. This sounds like the best way to deal with this toxic fluid, mostly water, evaporate the water, than scrape up the solid toxins, but many states don't have the correct weather, and topographical conditions to make this choice. It's taken to water treatment plants, which are apparently not capable of dealing with it. And it's re-used. So I'm wondering, just how concentrated with toxicians can it become? As every injection adds more contaminates to the solution? How much is being trucked around, and temporarly stored, and/or midnight dumped? How dangerous is this?
