My 1996 Crown Vic was an factory-built and engineered by Ford, it's a dedicated Natural Gas Vehicle not a conversion fuel by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
While it uses a Ford 4.6-L 2-valve modular V8 it's factory horsepower rating is 180 (SAE) hp. This is down roughly 10-15% from it's gasoline-fueled brother. This however does not hinder it from towing my 4500 # boat in the high altitude (8000 - 9000 ft ASL) environs of the Wasatch Mountains (Utah). Plenty of power for most drivers, with room for 6 and a full-size trunk big enough to carry a couple of Jimmy Hoffa's around.
The vehicle is otherwise unremarkable and drives perfectly. I pay $0.85 (now $0.96) per gallon for CNG and fill up about once a week at a nearby Utah state-operated (public access) CNG station.
The best part is the State of Utah gave me a State Income tax refund check for $2500 as a clean air incentive for bringing this vehicle in from another state.
The resale value of this vehicle has recently gone up by at least a factor of 2x, maybe 3x. It's great to have a full-size vehicle that can be operated cheaper than a Prius Hybrid and do it while not using a drop of OPEC oil.
Just Say, "Goodbye to Gasoline."
