“Mitt, I still do not understand why you insist on trying to become elected president of this great nation. I know it is not money, then what?”
He smiled and replied:
“You have not changed. You still miss the substance, the nerve, the foundation of current political thought. My greatest concern in the last few years has been the debilitating currents that affect our nation. If it wasn’t for the efforts of the entrepreneurial minority this country would be now surviving thanks to a plan similar to the Marshall Plan but devised and sponsored by China, the European Union, Canada, Mexico and Brazil!”
Mitt Romney’s circle of friends, lieutenants and Mormonic advisors, have convinced him that he can be the Savior of our country, and have convinced him that running this government is a little like the work he has been doing all his life. I could not contain myself and said:
‘Mitt, being president is not an easy occupation. This country is large and complex and just saying that you are going to put the country back to work and to create wealth at all levels demands more experience and know how than that obtained from running a company specialized in looking for mediocre outfits, arranging for dubious financing, reduce in size and submerge them into a paper wave that ends with a sale of some assets, or special arrangements dealing with its current debt and the uncertain, if not illegal, net worth. Gee, even Louie, my newspaper supplier who owns three newspaper stands uses similar tactics; he employs the same legal loophole you use as he keeps selling his stands or trading them after a bit of wedge fund maneuvering for credits which are then reversed and through clever reappraisal of equity holdings and adjusted values turn into most appetizing assets. And he always ends up with his three newspaper stands!”
He had listened carefully to my tirade. His face acquired that handsome look of interest and concentration. He grabbed my shoulder and said;
“Listen, how can I meet Louie? I can re-structure his newsstand empire!”
