John.

2030 is 20 years from now. Both PP and Al Gore's Repower America are shooting for 10, that is by 2020. To me 20/20, punning on 2020, sounds good and the right way to go because the vision is clear and it is feasible. It is far less difficult than building the bomb in 4 or going to the moon in 8 years.

Sometimes there is nothing like war that can stir the nation as it did in 1941 and in 1961, but unfortunately even 9/11, the equivalent of Pearl Harbor, does not seem to have done the trick this time around, let alone Iraq and Afghanistan, perhaps because the flow of cheap money is diluting the passion for real change creating an illusion of well-being.

So, given the current state of sloth and complacency in politics, unlike those glorious three decades from 1941 through 1973, albeit Vietnam, 2030 sounds better than 2050 and an achievable political compromise.

Chandra,
Is 2030 going to be soon enough?
