PickensPlan

As I prepare the research for a series of articles concerning the impending potential attack on the Iranian Nuclear facilities: "Is Israel the Tail waging US the Dog?", Rumors of an Impending Attack on Iranian Nuclear Complex will Spike Price of Oil back to $150 a Barrel" , and playing out the outcome in my head over the past few days, including a War with Iran involving Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Israel, other Persian Gulf States... Oil storage complexs boarding the Persian Gulf up in flames, while Russia, OPEC, Hugo Chavez and all other existing Petro producers, and exportors sit back drunk with glee, it occured to me that the PickensPlan will come to be reality 1 way or another.

If these events play out as they appear to be developing, than the Pickens Plan will be Our only actual realistic Strategic (alternative) Oil Reserve. The actual S.O.R. pool will run out very quickly.

Now, more than ever, we need a plan for implementation of a subsitute, for possibly a couple of years, for the loss of Persian Gulf Oil.

Wouldn't it be nice to be free on the reliance of Persian Gulf Oil? Of course, just what the Pickens Plan has been emphasizing, these past few years, to deaf ears. Soon, maybe as early as this Holiday Season 2009, we may be faced with a desperate situitation with no other choice, as Persian Gulf Oil becomes unavailable.

One solution that has been rejected by environmentalists is opening up the California coast for off shore drilling. It is estimated that the petroleum reserves in that location are a significant fraction of the entire mid east oil fields also revenues would help to solve California's terrible budget problem. If the politicians are unwilling to consider that option they are not serious about solving the energy shortfall and minimizing the roll of Arab oil.

Well, I consider myself an environmentalist. I'm human. I'm a biological being...

From what I'm gathering, and I'm mean literally, from cable TV, PBS, On Line, like from the current media U, we are headed for an engagement with Iran, by the end of this year 2009, which could go from a strike on their reactor building, to full blown War within a matter of minutes.

Depending on how really crazy the current Iranian Leadership is. Looks like they are pretty nuts. Of course, it would end something, I envision, like the 1st Gulf War, with X000's of sorties, and ultimately the death of the Iranian President, and the Supreme Leader.

They may have the ability, if not stoped by a precise 1st strike, to ignite the vast Eastern Saudi Oil complexes. Maybe much of Iraq's oil and more - worst case.

If that happens, we'll be desperately seeking Oil, and all forms of energy Nationally, (You bet the off-shore CA Oil will be instantly open) which we can find.

Now my point is, if I can figure this out, why isn't Our Government making preparations? Could be thery're comfortable with where they're at, physically, and they're just gonna let this event happen, than let the chips fall where they may?

Frankly, I don't see how we, the USA, can pull out of Iraq w/o 1st dealing with Iran; a 1st Gulf War type action upon Iran. I believe that after that's completed, the Iranian opposition will take over the Government there, and we'll, meaning US, and the World, will all live happily ever after.

Your assessment of the situation is spot on. Iran is a loose cannon on a
rolling deck and Israel may have to respond in self defense with the
inevitable consequences for oil price and availability . The problem with
our current government is that they are a bunch of 60's radicals that think
putting flowers in the muzzles of the enemies guns will bring about world
peace. They are delusional and thus incredibly dangerous. Ultimately clean
energy is the best and only viable solution but there are many steps, both
technical and political, between where we are now and where we need to be.
Idealistic politicians are usually incompetent politicians and, as such,
fail to understand this basic reality. The "solutions NOW" mentality
ultimately guarantees that no solution will ever be found.
