The “Pickens Plan”, for all intents and purposes, it might as well be called the “Make a Rich White Man Richer Plan”. I have looked at the Pickens Plan off and on for a couple of years and I run into the same problem. Every time I bring up the name, the response is always something about that rich white guy. For some reason, being a rich white guy just isn’t in vogue this week. For that reason, the Pickens Plan may have doomed itself. Maybe if Mr. Pickens would have gone with something more media friendly like “The Clean Air National Security Transition Plan” or whatever, there might be some positive coverage from the media.
You do not have to be a rocket scientists to understand that the media is quite biased when it come to reporting on energy policy. The media are no longer the free speech advocates of yesteryear. The media has quickly devolved into an arm of the left and along with the left comes the environmental activists. These activists will never allow a rich white oil man to go unchallenged; even if his plan is the most sensible and easiest to execute.
I am not even sure if the Pickens Plan is still getting any push. There simply is no marketing of the plan to the masses. Not sure if anyone has noticed but the masses are drawing the lines in the sand. I want to be on the side of the sand that allows pure unadulterated freedom. Freedom comes from mobility. Mobility is guaranteed with a strong US energy policy that does not depend on foreign sources.
Marketing is the answer along with a strong lobby. What are your plans for energy independence? What can you do to help change the face and name of this strong plan? Mr. Pickens is a great man. He is successful and he is rich. We just have to figure out the marketing plan to get the plan past prejudices and into operation.
