PickensPlan

Dr. Hans J. Kugler, PhD

Politics, Politics, Politics! Don't you get tired of the eternal El Toro Poo Poo? "WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEADERS GONE?" asks Lee Iacocca.

a) Our Congress passes an energy bill in total disagreement with science facts!
b) Putting the PICKENS PLAN into action is endangered because some people don't like HIGH-POWERED transmission lines!
c) Utility companies really dislike solar electric PV systems ON OUR HOUSES; THEY REDUCE THEIR SALES OF ELECTRICITY.
d) The NEW GM emerges as a just smaller unit of the SAME old crap; have you seen GM placing am emphasis on building plug-in hybrids? Union labor (unskilled auto workers, trained on the job) still make $ 75/hour.
e) Financed with stimulus $$$, crooked bankers force gasoline prices to increase.
f) Despite NASA data showing thawing of perma-frost Tundra on the poles - - - releasing ever increasing amounts of Methane (23 times as damaging as CO2) into the atmosphere - - - NOTHING is done about this, even though it has the potential of a disastrous runaway chain-reaction.
Every common-sense solution is screwed up by special interest!
How do we prevent this eternal special-interest El Toro Poo Poo? Maybe by adopting some guidelines that Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark have adopted: When it comes to any issues that are science-based, an independent council of University researchers determines what the facts are; any government representative who votes in disagreement of science facts (special-interest influenced) is called attention to by the media ( - - and politicians surely don't like that).
Can you imagine an evening TV news reports: "and today's vote in Congress shows that the bozos paid off by special interests are - - followed by a list on names and party associations.:"

Let's start with our goal, to put the PICKENS PLAN into action.
Energy experts, from Ira Ehrenpreis, to Andrew Chung and John Doerr agree:
"Forget about wind farms and solar plants run by conventional utility companies", he says. “In the new energy regime, the people are the utilities and their houses are the power plants.”
We don't need gigantic power-lines! The humongous national grid, connecting literally the entire country, is the brainchild of utility companies, assuming that they will be THE major source of electricity - - - and you know what happens when you ASSUME: you make an ASS out of U and ME. Besides, there is a tremendous loss of energy (electricity) when transporting electricity via high-powered transmission lines. WE CAN PREVENT MUCH OF THAT!
With an emphasis on installing PV systems on individual houses and industrial buildings as a # 1 priority, supported by smaller (noiseless) wind turbines, the need for energy (electricity) from outside sources greatly decreases.
From the (proposed by Pickens) wind STATIONS along the East-side of the Rocky Mountains, we only need average standard power lines to major energy consumption centers to support their energy needs. LET'S GET THIS DONE FIRST!
As a leader in wind-power, the PICKENS PLAN can then assist every major city and town in installing their own electricity-generating stations, including PV and smaller, noiseless, wind turbines.
JUST COMMON SENSE! WE CAN DO IT!

And before anybody becomes a special-interest influenced EXCUSIONIST, here is what Lee Iacocca (one of my heroes) has to say in his new book "WHERE HAVE ALL THE LEADERS GONE?"
'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course.'Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned, 'Titanic'. I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the bums out!'

2 points.

The solar cells that we are presently using (mostly made in China) are not very efficient. The energy in (used to make them) is equivalent to the energy you get out over the next 30 years. Next ones coming are 800X better, but tricky to set up for a small assembly because of the high temperatures of components.

Methane gas escapes from every plumbing stack in the country and sewage gets polluted with toxins and chemicals so that it can be used for nothing. Why can we not have local sewage processing plants that handle a closed system from our toilets to produce methane which can then run electric generators, heaters etc. and high quality, pathogen free fertilizer? This is not rocket science technology. In India they produce methane and collect it in a bag, then burn it to cook food. Germany builds stainless steel processing plants that handle animal waste.

First I want to say I would like to link to these posts and send them into twitter members through my bog. Lee Iacocca is on the money. I saw the country get taken by speculators in the Bush Administration. Our biggest problem is an uneducated, uninformed public run by people we elected who failed to do their job. The only true solution is to find replacements for those we feel should go. We have a mission to educate the public on the truth about energy and pollution. We can debate what's going on until we're blue in the face but it won't do any good. Lets start spreading the word.

Debra, no one wins in war. And those that won't sell will have their land stolen from them. The U.S. has always shown a preponderance to take what they want when they want under any means necessary. It will be interesting to see if Obama lives up to his promise of eliminating special interest from D.C. Though I doubt this will happen, it would be a big step in making our Government work they way it should. I hope all who read this will stop worrying about who is the President and start doing something about the gravy train riders on the hill who keep getting fat off of the common people. I doubt it will ever change, but atleast some of us KNOW how the system works and are not ostriches sticking our heads in the sand.

I think that is a valid concern, but there are many lines that could already be used. Maybe if we put them underground they would not bother anyone? I think it is, as always , a NIMBY issue. And an issue of eminent domain, who is going to sell their land rights for the greater good, anyway, when we are still arguing about who won the civil war.

Walter:
They say Pickens is quitting because they don't want to build the LARGE POWER LINES, which they say are necessary to bring the electricity (from East of the Rockies) to the consumers far away.
But I say we don't need the huge power lines; see my reasoning in the blog above.
Hans
PS: Don't you ever wonder if Washington is run by the biggest bunch of paid-off f------ idiots?

Hi Hans:

Yes, methane release is huge concern. Unlike yourself, my question is where are the scientist to stand-up with press conferences, etc. to expose the real problem? Are they too under both political and job security threats by Congress and Institutions via approval of research funding appropriations and on what subject?

Yes, the Band Play On. 'Would have made little difference as to which party won the election - all is now controlled by special interest powers ($) via lobbyist on both corrupt civil and political fronts. We now have a corporate fascist controlled government. Sad. And yes; fire Congress - the whole lot, at next years election.

The Pickens Plan, given the time frame urgency to achieve energy independence, is still the only realistic plan on the table.

Walter
