Good Afternoon Leslie,
I am fairly new to this technology, however, I am extremely interested in it. My brother is in Iraq as a contractor for one of those major government schemes to rebuild said country's infrastructure at an overly inflated cost. My point is, I want him back in this country. Since I served in the Marines, I feel that he should recieve a "get out of jail free card" on my behalf. However, he, unfortunately is inclined to chase that dollar. As displayed on my profile page, I am trying to get him here by enticing him into starting a "greenpower" initiative with me here in Tennessee. My question is, what do you know about the so called "smart grid" everyone is pushing these days? I know that the current infrastructure is over taxed to say the least but, is "smart grid" technology just another way of saying that we are simply improving on old infrastructure? Or is this "smart grid" just simply making the current "grid" compatable with "greenpower" technologies? Now, if the "smart grid" is just updating the old "grid", what is the purpose since power is transferred in the same or similar matter or fashion as we use today? Unless, the "smart grid" is to utilize power when and where needed at the moment it is needed from vast distances as proposed in the Pickens Plan. Sorry, I am very excited about this technology and love to talk to like minded people, however, I do not hold any form of a college degree as of yet. So please forgive me if I need a little more explanation than others folks ... trying my best.
