I was amazed to read recently that there are about 6 million people in the U.S. that still use home heating oil; mostly in the northeast where the infrastructure is older, and also in more remote areas.
With the price of oil so high, it seems like someone could save a LOT of money by switching over to a natural gas furnace. I just imagine that anyone who hasn't already done so can't afford the conversion.
I would be interested in joining a group that is helping people to convert away from home heating oil furnaces; which would reduce dependence on OPEC oil, and help people save money at the same time.
Does anyone know of anyone involved in this sort of thing? I really think this idea should be included in the Pickens Plan.

And help me out here, could natural gas be delivered to a tank in a remote rural area the way propane is? If not, wouldn't propane still be a better option than home heating oil? Propane is a petroleum byproduct, and so should be cheaper.... right?
Comment by Ronald Wagner on January 26, 2013 at 12:23pm Most of these states are the same ones that won't allow fracking. Natural gas is very high , in some areas, also : because they won't allow new pipelines.
