Considering your interest in promoting energy independence, a group that you really should consider joining is Vote Solar. I believe strongly in utilizing the natural free sources of power already available to America. We do not need to continue to be held hostage as 'energy slaves' as so many already in various energy industries seem to want to keep us. No matter what others may nay say, we Americans can attain what we want by working together for a 'real change'! As a member of Vote Solar, I also am promoting their key idea, that being getting state legislatures to create economic empowerment zones for cities so that people basically can acquire alternative energy solutions without the burden of high upfront costs. Just like you can buy a new car without having to spend the total price upfront, everyone should have the same capability with acquiring a PV system for their home as an example. The key to the Vote Solar concept lies in the ability of a city to issue bonds increasing their tax base (that covers the cost of the system), while you enjoy choosing the system you want and reaping the savings on your utility bill. The city gets it's money for the issued bonds typically over a 20 year period, through increased property taxes on the property even if you sell the property. The new owner will then enjoy the same savings and taxes. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local efforts. This is a very do-able plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses.We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more comprehensive detailed national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new alternative energy infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish .If there is anything I can do to help you in your organizing effort, please feel free to contact me.

It is really quite easy..... Boone has done the hard work. I simply say to folks, "I am gathering support for T Boone Pickens plan to get us off of foreign oil, we really need to keep that money in this country." I am uet to meet ONE person who does not understand how critical this is. We just need to gather their names.
