Here is something I posted on the district leader board - it helps to frame the process. Please ask any questions, any time!

"....I simply try to talk about it with everyone I meet and run in to. EVERYONE wants to get off of foreign oil and EVERYONE understands that we need to keep the money in this country. WE just need to gather their names. IT really is quite easy - Boone has done the hard work.

Keep it simple. I say... " I am gathering support for T. Boone Picken's Plan to get us off of foreign oil. Can I add you to the 1.4 million supporters already on the list. We simply must keep those billions in THIS country."

I try to get 2-4 every day and they add up. I know for certain that it works.

The key points are:

1. We can not just "spread the word" - people are busy, and although they mean well, most will not take the time to go to the site and join us. We need to control the process by taking name, address and email. It takes just a few seconds to input manually.

2. Everyone that I signed up gets Boone's emails. Some have become more involved, ALL have become more informed. One person at a time we change the paradigm of thought on energy in this country.

3. We are lucky, unlike our forefathers, we do not need to take up arms to change the course of history. We need to go out of our comfort zone a bit and ask. Are we willing to do that?... or not?

4. When will we ever have a chance like this again? We must put our heads down and plow like hell. Our numbers will be critical to get Harry Reid his "60 votes" he will be looking for (Energy Summit) when he puts transmission, smart grid and renewables on the table. WHEN WILL WE EVER HAVE A MAN LIKE BOONE AT THE HELM, willing to spare no time and expense to change the course of this nation?

Were you able to add new supporters with the blue link I gave you? This is so critical. We all heard at the summit yesterday how they want to get this done - they are worried about the 60 votes in the senate to get it passed and the public's stomach for it. We can give Boone more support with more numbers. We simply have to keep working it!
