Charlotte,

The piece on Mi Fair Tax is right on. I have been advocating a consumption tax since the 60's. Was a charter member of the liberty amendment committee, and early member of citizens for an alternative tax. We did this prior to 1913, and it worked very well. The federal reserve in 1912, and federal income tax in 1913 really changed our country's landscape. Our current economic crisis will cause us to revisit some old but proven values.

Hi Charlotte,

FYI, my deceased mother was named Charlotte Laura, and my niece is Lorie. Have been busy working on radio, tv, and print media for Earth Day on the Mountain, April 18th , at Lake Arrowhead, it is posted on events. Also have been working to get politicians on board using Wayne Bowsers Radio Show as a launching platform. Wayne is a terrific guy and a real shaker and mover. Hopefully we will see a political breakthrough in California real soon. My individual recruiting has suffered somewhat due to these and some medical activities, but next week without fail I will be visiting the colleges. As far as California Pickens goes, we are behind the curve for the moment. Maybe the media, events and cold calling will start to pay dividends. Just getting started but am optimistic! Just transferring from CA 41 to CA 43, so it is ground zero! Kim Anderson is so right, "America respects and listens to big numbers.

Best wishes,

Charlotte when you return to California we are going to have 300 Acre Hybrid Solar Stations, many Wind Turbines and much, much more. Kim Anderson is on spot when she has we all need to recruit at least 10 new people, then our army would grow to 15,000,000 which translates into a very formidable block of voters. At that point the politicians would be courting us. It will take large numbers to win this fight, but we are going to do it! Please try hard to get another 10 people this week. Kim showed me how easy it really is and now I've broken the recuiting block. We are in the process of writing history here. It doesn't get much more exciting than that.

Best wishes,

Hi Charlotte……thank you for joining! I took a bunch of the photos while I was in Europe the past 3 years. Do we have a lot to learn from countries who are taking the depletion of oil very seriously. As you know, education is the key to knowledge, but where do we start? After you familiarize yourself with the information on this website, a wealth of additional information is available. We can look to Europe as our inspirational model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark, Germany and Spain lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,500+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity feeding the power grid.

The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark and Germany are producing 20% of all their electrical needs; in Spain, as much as 38% (please see examples in the photos on my page). We are 10 years behind in implementation compared to these countries!

I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what others around the world have done and are doing:

1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
Watch the video in the upper left corner of the page. It tells a great story.
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely
self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”

Here are a few great videos to see: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause. By the way, I use to work in Garden City a long, long time ago!!! I am in your area (Troy, Clawson, Warren) about once a month visiting family. Good luck in your quest for a better and more secure America….. Please ask 5 of your friends to join the “PLAN”……> Lee Ewald

Hi Charlotte , T. Boone Pickens has put his money where his mouth is, investing millions of his own money to rally you and me to action! Right now there are many Michiganders experiencing economic hardship, those who wish they had any extra disposable income just to make basic energy utilization improvements to their homes, businesses, and transportation. Why is Michigan near the bottom of the economic ladder? Let's start with the Michigan's income tax structure: To try to fix Michigan's tax system, the legislature enacted the Michigan Business Tax. Trouble is, the MBT still remains a gross receipts tax (levying a tax, even if a business isn't profitable) - which was the problem with the Single Business Tax it was designed to replace. The MBT continues to penalize entrepreneurship and productivity, and Michigan is rapidly losing businesses, jobs, and families - daily !

I’m a volunteer for the Michigan FairTax Assn, inviting you to join us. Our goal is to REPLACE the Michigan income tax because the system is broken. We've been working hard to get the word out about a fairer, progressive consumption tax plan known as the Michigan FairTax. In order to give Michigan voters the power to choose, we are laying the groundwork for a ballot drive to get the Michigan FairTax on the 2010 general election ballot.

For The Facts- End income tax returns, audits, interest, penalties and 1/2 the lobbyists in LansingThe Michigan FairTax will both simplify, and stimulate, Michigan's business / jobs climate in a dramatic and ongoing manner. It will replace the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale) while un-taxing all purchases up to poverty level - this means no more withholding of state tax from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks.

What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size (.0975 x $ [ poverty level per family size] ). This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. Thus, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending up to the monthly poverty level, thereafter it would be 9.75%. A reasonable average effective rate, inferred, would be about 5.5% (that's without putting anything away!) Monies placed into savings are not available to spend, and therefore would result in a further effective tax rate reduction.

(We seldom email state-wide, generally notifying members nearby to events or initiatives.)

Under a FairTax system, points of collection will be dramatically reduced (from millions of individuals to considerably fewer retailers, many of whom are already collecting sales tax). Michigan wage-earners will no longer experience income tax collectors adding interest and penalties to tax bills they only found out about after their return was prepared (and PAID for) at the end of the year. With a Michigan FairTax, income tax-- returns, audits, interest, and penalites vanish.

Currently, goods / services prices and fees carry income / payroll tax compliance costs - "a hidden tax," ultimately paid by us. The FairTax will externalize these costs, making them visible. Michigan exporters will then be able to jettison the FairTax, prior to shipment, making Michigan products more competitive, globally. The MI FairTax is NOT applied to non-retail, business-to-business purchases, as this inseparably embeds taxation costs in prices of finished goods and services.

This plan is revenue neutral, as it-- ends "first fruit" confiscation of wages, stops the practice of hiding consumer taxes in retail prices, makes the true cost of gov't visible, and properly pays for gov't as we meet personal and family needs. Take action! - JOIN OUR TAX REFORM ARMY to bring Michigan back!

- - -

Made popular by the federal FairTax bill (H.R. 25, which was either co-sponsored or otherwise endorsed by several 2008 presidential candidates), this approach to taxation reaches across the political spectrum

Mike Gravel (D) - Mike Huckabee (R) - Ron Paul (Libertarian R)

Why the FairTax idea is right for America's working families.

Dr. Laurence Kotlikoff believes that it will take the FairTax to reverse unfunded U.S. gov't obligations, about $53 $88 trillion and counting !!

Hi Charlotte- Thanks for the reply. Well , I too have been developing a backup career plan. In this economic environment we all need one. I have been in the medical device business for 25 years, mainly selling endovascular devises to surgeons and cardiologists...all those little tools that keep our blood flowing to all the right parts...like your heart and legs.
When you say you are continuing your education in alternative energy where are you taking courses? Very interested. Thanks. Jim

Hi Charlotte:

Yes, there are many, many new innovations and inventions ready to go, having R&D completed and only stuck for capital investment to execute. Alternative energy spans from only wind on land, but wind at sea - and new differential temperature generation, geothermal power, clean fuels from coal such as calcium carbide, magnetic motors, any-fuel engines such as Opus and even recapture of the 70% of oil still in the ground of depleted oil wells in a way which is converted to energy without pollution.

Our country desperately needs to capitalize our overlooked, if not out-casted, resource; the American Independent Inventor. Only with these new capabilities can new product be created for world demand that can justify the re-birth of our manufacturing base, which is currently only some 22% of our economy. Economics 101: Product supports Services. That product production is now based off-shore, leading to our demise. All trade agreements also have to totally overhauled, or those intellectual properties will just be manufactured in China or Indonesia.

You have a great day,
Walter

Thanks for Friending me. Both Jack Costantino and I are Co-leaders here in Northern NJ. We hatched this idea a few weeks ago and Jack refined it. Our belief is that Kids now are where we need to focus and invest with awareness. As a father of 2 teenage daughters I see how we all need to change our habits to solve this problem.. ..... The Pickens Plan is only a milestone to what we need to accomplish to reverse climate change which is a global and much bigger challange. But we need to start somewhere. Right? Stay in touch and if you would like join District Group NJ-11. The boyz in Jersey have no bounds. Jim

Thanks for friending me. I see you and I are in some of the same discussion groups. I look forward to joining efforts in this essential imperative. I can totally relate to the experience you described as your family drove past the CA wind farm. The first time I saw that was in my way to Wilkes-Barre, PA. The array is set on a high ridge off the highway approach to the city. Spectacular! Very dramatic and it had the same impact on me...that this could actually happen.

We started a new discussion group yesterday you may be interested in checking out. It's called the T. BOONE ROUND-UP.

Here's the link: http://push.pickensplan.com/group/tbooneroundup

The concept speaks to an easy funding idea for adding energy conservation to the core curriculum in our nations schools in K-12.

Hope to see you at the ROUND-UP.
