Hi Kelly, Here is a way to help and give tools to all of us for getting more RE projects started. I have been pushing for the sell of US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a RE savings bond to support a project. I need help pushing this project in Washington DC, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already and need others to do the same. My email is ke6cvh@yahoo.com. Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi yesterday:
27FEB09
Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,
I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.
Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.
I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.
Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. These websites are:
I took the first step by getting my business license. The business is Lightning Bolt Solar L.L.C. I can sell 100 watt panels for $325.00, but I don't have a price on complete systems. I'm working on keeping the cost as low as possible.
Sorry it has taken so long to reply. I am just now recovering from the holidays.
These systems are in the design stage now.
Let me tell you about my situation. I live with my very elderly parents in Columbus Texas. I am watching over them here and supporting my daughter who lives with her mother in San Diego. Our house and land are paid for. I have a small machine shop and a lot of computer power that allows me to do CAD and finite element analysis. I am starting a new business www.encoreusascientifics.com email encoreusasci@aol.com or tboydlaser@aol.com.
My background is physics and engineering. I decided a few years ago that I was sick of going after government contracts and building very expensive delicate laser prototypes with very expensive components. My ambition now is to build things as cheaply as possible with scrap steel recovered from old bridges and cheap commercial components.
The finite element analysis and CAD allows me to explore new approaches towards devices that can convert solar and wind power to electricity. These designs are chosen to make use of cheap materials.
This business has just started. We intend to incorporate and to secure some form of intellectual property concerning our devices.
I am very happy that you are interested in talking about these solutions. Please tell me more about your interests.
Kelly,
Thanks for your support on taxes. As it stands now I have to pay taxes on my SSD because my wife works and it's taxible But because we oown our home, we get a nice refund. I'm starting to think perhaps they should let the SSD continue to be taxed and we get enough of a refund to get a new TV & steak dinner. I don't mind the Government using my money for a year, especially now. As such, taxes are a moot point for me now. Our Government needs to use the money more than I do now.
Got your message check out www.energy tax incentive.org or www.dsireusa.org This may be a start for you! meanwhile were checking into a tappen unit were calling the factory in a few days to see if they have any scratched or dented units they are willing to donate if so you and your hubby are going to get a free unit. see if you can get the btuh off your furnace as this will help alot. unfortunatally I will be in P.A. the well thanksgiving helping my father as i havent seen him for 4 years (after we surrived hurricane charlie we went up there for Ike ) WE HAD ENOUGH OF HURRICANES FOR A WHILE!! the eye of charlie dam near took us out!! Where you going in fla? therese and i live in Cape Coral on the gulf of mexicans!!!! You know ha ha.!!
Jesus Dont get me wrong as i thought your hubby was working outa town or somthing!!!! Not to worry !!!! now back to bussiness it sounds like you may have a chance to save some bucks. if you have a furnace like you say @ 2500sq ft a 92% afue furnace and a heatpump will be the start as the two wallshakers are NOT DOING YOU JUSTICE! there eating you out of house and home!!! Lets say I could save you money right off the bat would that intrest you? @ 29.00 each and no converting at all? YOUR LIGHTS OF COARSE!!!! go to L.E.D.'s there soooo efficiant and the benefits are so much better. As you know if you use the curley q's they do save some but the enviromental impact the price and they still attract bugs NOT GOOD!!! also the price and they do burnout quicker than the L.E.D's I will see if we could send a few to ya to try as we converted our complex to solar but ours ore 12 volt, not to worry as you can get them in standard base or any base size and 120 volt. also if you can get the B. T. U. H. off the tag on your furnace (this will help me faster than calculate how much heat you really need) as the windows insulation etc would add more time to figure out. Next see if you are eligable for any grant money as the department of energy may be able to pay for your retrofit!!! of home energy assistance program is one too Have a phone give me or my wife a call @ 239-540-8649 evenings are fine.
O.K.lets start simple ,we will start with your well! WELL WELL WELL (thats a deep subject!!!! but seriously dose it push a fair amount of water? If it dose you could build a hydro system with a g.m. alternator and a car battery!!! the car battery acts as an exciter for the alternator. I believe older g.m. altenator or a ford type creates 110 volts a.c.before being regulated through a voltage regulator. as far as amps it depends on what size altenator is used. the best part of this project is it may cost 0 dollars if your husband has access to junk cars or g.m.!!! They owe him right!!!!! then he could gear it up so it spins faster with a p.v.c.paddle from p.v.c.pipe(i find the stuff on the side of the road,in dumps, ditches, county projects(usally if you ask a county worker they have scrap pieces) to build the power plant (big word for somthing sooooo small) also on craigs list.com look for curb alerts as you can get alot fo free stuff as well!!! craigslist ive found everythang from junk to free houses a great way to shop.!!!!! hope this helps and i will give you (and hubby any info i can to help.) as I hate to see family seperated it sucks. also any tips you can pass to my wife feel free Thanks Ray P.S. i will see what i can get together from my bussiness to help build a system with your hubby. all i would need to know is how big your home is ,if it has a basement, etc. I get a.c.systems\heat pumps alot here that could be donated to your residance at no charge.
NOT ME NOT MAYOR BUT>>>>......investgating the possability of a laywer on mayoral appointment!!!!!! also may have info to help you on energy plan for your artesian well, and you use propane? I just designed a system to cut cost on propane use for a friend in michigan need to know what type of furnace you use a.f.u.e.would be a start. also check into backwoods solar.com get their free book on their products it has alot of hydro generated for your well and how to build up a system. even if funds are limited i can cut your heating bill by 85%. a 12 seer heat pump(its electric and very efficiant and a 98%afue propane furnace and a honeywell pro 8000 series setback 2 stage thermostat could pay for it self in little time. Your problem of ordering propane ,paying for it,and your supply is a serious issue in the winter months. hope this helps you out.!!!!! Ray
here's a good one-- we decided seeing my wife is a homemaker ,her bussiness is almost broke. she is in need of a new home, mop, rags, food, gas money, dog treats etc.so were going to ask the goverment for a bailout of 2 million dollars its not asking for too much is it? after all if every homemaker asked our economy will be better and spreading the wealth as well!! she will be giving the wealth back to Johnson& Johnson,Kenel Ration,Wallmart,Etc. As a female she is concidered a minority and therefor it would be considered discrimation so she should be entitled to it.
Thanks for the comment Kelly it was great hope to hear from you soon! I may be busy as im trying to get the mayors job in Cape Coral. also its an invite to meet me just go to News Press.com (Cape Coral) mayors appointment (Im the calm civil one Ha Ha. !!!! if they only knew!!!! if I do get in pickens plan posters etc will be replaced for all billboards ( a manditory good thing)!!!!! then I can get my wish beind dictator for a day!!!!!!
