David,
I came across the following comment, and wonder if you have heard anything like this?

"Pelosi and Reid are just about to do the stupidest thing imaginable: pull the rug out from underneath the blossoming renewable energy economy at the time when we need it most.

(Start reaching for your phone...)

Just as every single magazine in the country is giving the energy crisis more press than Paris Hilton, and just as renewable energy is becoming the entrepreneurial equivalent of the internet revolution and just as the news about climate change is getting weirder and scarier every time we open the freakin' paper, our crazy-assed Democratic leaders are completely dropping the ball, and you gotta call Capitol Hill right now and tell them to get their head's straight fast.

As Adam Browning of Vote Solar put it "Thursday morning, Senator Reid and Speaker Pelosi decided to drop the renewable energy standard out of the energy bill and drop the tax title. No tax title means no extension of the investment tax credit for solar, and no extention of the production tax credit for wind. Let's see...nothing for solar, plus nothing for wind, hmmm, add no renewable energy standard, carry the zero...yep, that adds up to precisely nothing for renewable energy.

Got that? Congressional leadership is moving an energy bill with nothing in it for renewable energy. Dropping the biggest pro-solar provision this country has ever seen, just when the industry is gaining momentum and making an impact."

According to Adam, we've got maybe 24 hours to turn this around. 24 hours. That's not a lot of time.

Now he suggested a script to use when you call the Hill, but mine is better, it goes like this:

'Hi Senator Pelosi? Um, 90% of America, would like more renewable energy and you are ignoring them? So you're either crazy or you are possessed by the devil. Which one is it? I hope you're possessed by the devil because insanity takes years of therapy to cure and we are running out of time but all you need to get rid of Satan is a flask of holy water and a sober village priest. So, get your exorcism on sister and get the 8-year extension for the solar investment tax credits in the energy bill. Do it, do it now. Thank you very much.'

You can use the same script for Reid, only don't call him "sister."

Pelosi's offices number is 202- 225-4965
Reid's office's number is 202-224-3542

Then you should call your Congressman or woman and get all fired up on this too. You can find your congressional leader here. Tell 'em stuff like this:

* Clean energy means jobs and energy independence.
* America needs carbon-free renewable energy immediately. Tons of it.
* Renewable energy is a key component in the war against climate change.
* The energy bill must extend investment tax credits for solar.

Come on, Act Now!

This is really serious stuff. This is a call to arms. We're fighting a two front war against climate change and woefully short sighted politicians. Call your friends, aunts, uncles, the whole lot of them. Get everyone dialing. Today.

Because time is running out in more ways than one."

Thanks David. I try to be realistic with my own vision of what needs to be done and not just say this is the only way to get this done. We have to do all we can to get off of foreign oil and keep more of that $700 billion here at home.

Hi David,
I like the changes. I've added it to the site.

Also, I'm wondering if you would be willing to be added as an administrator on the "CNG Conversion Kits and Their Vehicles" site?

Nice to meet you David... If there is anything I can help you with please ask. Welcome to the Pickens Plan Community.

Good News #1

A recent prediction by the American Solar Energy Society found that energy efficient businesses were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2020 that number is expected to reach 30 million.

Good News #2

The US National Association of Home Builders announced that more than 1,000 builders and refurbishes have earned its Green Professional Certification since it was introduced February on this year.

This is phenomenal growth!

My skill sets are website development, graphic design and network marketing. Last Spring a small group of us launched a local city magazine that focuses on anything Green. We also launched a green campaign called “Kiss The Earth Green”, registered a few domain names and launched a website to manage the new traffic and database. The magazine and website have surpassed all of our expectations.

CLICK HERE to view some of the pages of our new green magazine.

As an entrepreneur and home business professional, my plan is to help drive this new green industry forward and position myself for its expected phenomenal growth. Are you having success with something you want to share? I have a marketing system that will help sell or expose any product, service or idea you have. I also have an idea for the beginner who is looking to generate an extra income from home.

Please share your comments, concerns or ideas.

Let’s work together and make something happen!

CALLING ALL LEADERS!

We have petitions! "THE PLEDGE" is on the main page.

I think this is the very best tool we could ask for. It is so much easier to get someone to sign a petition than to go online and join the plan as a member.

I have been test driving it for a few days and got 200 signatures rather eaasily. Most folks had seen the ads or seen Boone on the news. Most were eager to sign it and strongly support it. A few wanted to get more info- I handed them a business card with the website. Very few said no (2 or 3).

I hope you can ask all your "friends" to download a bunch of PLEDGES and fax them back to the office ASAP. THIS IS HOW WE BUILD AN ARMY much faster. Millions of signatures.

Thank you for all your efforts. We have a very strong team. Many ants can take the Hill!

are you aware of

New Apollo Energy act of 2007, (H.R.2809). I will have a copy in the morning. I met with Jay Inslee energy rep and there is a lot of good stuff in it. When I get it I will send it right to you. It is definitely something we can get behind.

David,
Is there a difference between CNG, LNG, and LP conversion kits? I'm assuming (and I know that's a bad thing to do) that part of the difference would be how the kits change the liquids to a gas?

Clean-Tech Venture Capitalist Speaks to the Democrats

Venture capital got a prime-time spot at the Democratic National Convention when Nancy Floyd, founder and managing director of Nth Power, a San Francisco clean-tech venture capital firm, addressed the crowd Tuesday.

She argued that Barack Obama’s energy policy would help energy entrepreneurs and the nation’s economy. Ms. Floyd lobbied on behalf of start-up companies with technologies that address the energy crunch. “There are thousands of entrepreneurs with new solutions and investors are lining up to back them,” she said. “What’s missing is leadership from Washington.”

She compared green technology to the early days of information technology. “Green technology is where the computer industry was in 1984, the year the Macintosh computer was introduced,” she said. “Think about how far we’ve come since then, and that’s how far-reaching and transformational green technology will be.”

Investments in solar and wind companies have already paved the way for the creation of 2.4 million new jobs, she said, but only 10 percent are in the United States, and alternative energy companies in the United States are turning to countries like Spain, Germany and China to manufacture and sell their products.

“That’s because other countries have smart, stable, forward-looking energy policies,” she said. Ms. Floyd, who is based in Portland, Ore., founded Nth Power in 1997, long before alternative energy became the hot sector for venture investors. The firm has $420 million under management in four funds.

Ms. Floyd founded one of the first wind development companies in 1982 and sold it three years later.

I have read your comment. You seem very knowledgabe. I have a question. From all of your research, do you think the EPA regulations are justified or overkill. It seem to me they are overkill, designed to make CNG conversion very expensive.

I like Senator Inhole's bill it is a good start. I would appreicate you poiunt of view.

Key Policy Recommendations for a Cleaner, Greener Energy Future

* Provide multiyear tax incentives for renewable-energy production and energy-efficiency projects.

* Set national mandates that would require utilities to get at least 20 percent of their electricity from wind, solar and geothermal energy by 2020.

* Add and updating the building code to require energy-efficiency measures in the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing buildings, and setting a goal to reduce buildings' energy use 50 percent by 2030.

* Set prices for carbon-dioxide emissions and creating a program that caps emissions from different industries and allowing companies to trade emissions allowances.

* Upgrade and expanding the nation's electric grid to enable it to support electric cars and the transport and storage of renewable energy.

* Provide incentives for utilities to invest in energy-efficiency technologies.

* Increase the fuel efficiency of cars and trucks and investing more money in private-public partnerships that would develop transportation systems that rely on little or no oil, such as electric cars.

* Provide incentives to consumers and small businesses to buy plug-in hybrid cars and alternative fuels, including natural-gas-powered cars.

* Invest more federal dollars in cleantech research and development, including ways to capture and store carbon-dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants.

* Speed up the process of setting aside public lands and improving the permitting process for renewable-electricity projects on public lands.

* Shift from ethanol made from corn to ethanol made from wood chips, agricultural waste and other nonfood feedstock, and encouraging a joint U.S.-Brazil partnership to turn sugar cane into ethanol in the Caribbean.

'Green-collar' jobs a growth area, U.S. group says

Companies are stepping up their environmental initiatives, and that may mean a boom in "green-collar" jobs.

A recent forecast by the American Solar Energy Society found that renewable energy and energy-efficient industries were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2030 that number is expected to reach 40 million.

Colleges and universities are taking notice, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., a job placement consulting group.

Many have introduced specialized degree programs in eco-commerce, environmental accounting, green and social marketing, and ecological economics.

"The demand for 'green-collar' jobs is really exploding, especially as the cost of energy continues to climb," said John Challenger, the group's chief executive. "Students need to start thinking about developing skills that will give them an edge for these types of careers that did not even exist until recently."

Popular jobs include urban planners, forestry professionals and environmental lawyers, Challenger said. There is also a growing demand for architects and engineers with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit.

The fact that Dr. Joachim W. Koenig would not release his findings makes me suspicious. It leaves everything up to interpretation instead of facts.

Here is a document that sets a time line on the Aramco seizure of the oil infrastructure in 1979. This document does not clear the oil companies of collusion but it does point out the nationalization of the Saudi Arabia oil infrastructure.

http://books.google.com/books?id=BXWasJHiT-kC&pg=PA39&lpg=PA39&dq=saudis+arabia+nationalizes+oil+industry+1979&source=web&ots=snCePcMLbO&sig=u9t4wcai45OuNVuGOK2u7FYQk9k&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result

Here is a document that tracks the oil industry history.

Excerpt

His son Mahammad Reza Pahlavi became Shah in 1941 and made many modernizations until he was displaced by the Iranian Revolution in 1979. The Ayatollah Khomeini, who took over from the Shah, established an Islamic theocracy, which strained relations with Western nations and damaged the economy. The theocratic government was bitterly anti-American, seizing the U.S. Embassy.

October 1978: Iranian strikes; departure of foreign technicians. Pipeline fire drops Iraqi production from 600,000 barrels per day (95,000 m³/d) to 300,000 barrels per day (48,000 m³/d).
November 1978: Iranian oil production starts dropping.
December 1978: Iranian production hits 1.5 MMB/D in mid-December; 500,000 on December 27, a 27-year low. OPEC production raises 1.6 MMBD over two months due to increased Saudi production.
December 17, 1978: OPEC decides on a 14.5 percent price increase for 1979, to be implemented quarterly.
January 20, 1979: Saudi Arabia announces drastic cut in first-quarter production. 9.5 MMBD ceiling imposed. Although actual cuts never reach announced levels, spot prices of Middle East light crudes rise 36 percent.
November 15, 1979: Iran cancels all contracts with U.S. oil companies.
December 13, 1979: Saudi Arabia raises marker crude price to $24 per barrel.
The Saudi Arabians and the Iranians created the oil shortage of 1979. The chronology makes it clear that the Arab nations held the world hostage to make more money on their oil.

We need to free ourselves of foreign oil.
