If you would ever want to join our once a month get together to discuss current industry trends, new processes and projects in the pipelinethat we are all currently working on, please respond by e-mail and I will send you the location information for the next meeting. (usually 4 hours) There are nine (9) of us who all work as Sr. Energy Consultants for the Big 3 EPC firms Fluor,URS,& Shaw Group. All are Senior members of the Society of Industry Leaders)
We discuss how to contribute, how our organizations plan to participate, current cost, schedules, procurement, regulatory, and resource issues that could impact the next wave of Alternative Energy projects. We dissect these current industry issues and develop proposed solutions for presentations to our energy division corporate executives and marketing teams...

We usually meet either in Frisco,TX (Westin Stonebriar) or Houston,TX (Westin Galleria)

Hello, I was reading your page and I thought I would ask you a question or two. When the pickens plan started I asked how we could combine the larger windmills while integrating solar in them as well. almost like hitting two birds with one stone. If we can figure out a way to do this then I believe if nothing else it can make energy cheaper during peak usage times (which is usually while the sun is up). Wind farms take up a lot of area and that erea usually gets quite a bit of sun as well. If done correctly then maybe we could get the same energy in less area. I need to know the disadvantages of this idea before I can go on and I thought perhaps you could enlighten me. I brought this idea up to others around 9 months or so ago and havent recieved much back on it. thank you for your time

Ben, visiting your business site, I was reading your recent posts. I came across your entry on metal roofs. I too installed a metal roof and had excellent results re power conservation but felt I had to take you to task on your comment about metal and composite shingle being about the same price. Metal roofing is far more costly than composite roofing. Shingle roofs go on very fast with power nailers and minimal skilled (low cost) labor. Metal roofs also jump dramatically in cost as the complexity of roof geometry increases as hip or multiple gable roofs generate much waste in the form of cut off material that is not properly oriented to use on any other section of the roof deck. I would have loved to have had a metal roof on my new home but being all hip, the numbers did not support metal over shingle. In cases like mine, a composite shingle roof with radiant barrier insulation is much more cost effective. As for durability, I'm afraid all metal roofs get painted with the same brush. Standing seam and other self-overlapping panels with concealed fasteners are a true lifetime roof but are more suited for premium home construction due to very high price. From the picture you posted of your house, I've deduced your roof is like mine with gasketed screw fasteners. After several years you have a maintenance issue as the screw need periodic tightening and sealing. I still like the metal roof on my older home but have found the radiant barrier to be almost as effective without the screw maintenance issue. Gary

mr booth, i would love a demostrator in my backyard for one year to see if a residential unit would work in the western north carolina foothills (28043). i am semi-retired and would like to do something such as selling a product as unique and needed as small wind energy turbines. have you seen the windspire by mariah power ? i hope to hear from you. i think i could make a windmill unveiling a big press and political event. thank you tommy

Done in the interest of weight and efficiency. Well, consider how narrow the wing of a hummingbird is. These work very well.

Dear Wind Inc.

Why do you make your wind turbines so narrow; as opposed to the original Wind Mills of Holland with very wide blades on the Wind Mill;

how can a narrow wind turbine "catch wind ? A.

Dear ENVIRONMENT-SOLUTIONS.COM, (WIND INC),

Thank you for your interest, and we would be interested in what you have to offer. Please get ahold of my boss Jamie Aggen CEO of PowerStream Communications,Inc. @ 1(360) 509-1964 ,or 1(360) 616-4768, and we would be most interested to receive your info on your turbines, and see how it would best fit into what we are doing currently.

Thanks again, and hope to hear from you soon,

I have a Hydro-Drive That I have prototyped and would like to incorporate in advanced wind generator designs I have had since about 2000. I also incorporate this hydro-drive in a self contained hydro-electric system. You may view a design I have in the NASA Create The Future Design Contest in the sustainable technology category entitled Versatile Synergistic System. I am seeking to get my wind turbine designs and this self-contained Hydro-Electric System funded. I realize your group is wind energy oriented; so we'll start there. My Email Address is Energy4All@q.com

Sir,
you know when adding a comment you can make any of the links you put in place live by using the links button in the tool bar in the comment window right? I think it will allow you to receive more traffic to your site.

I have a wind turbine design I invented (unpatented), a few years ago. I would like to see it developed and marketed. I see it as a better design for maximizing available wind energy. I also have a patent pending on a new type of generator that could work well with wind turbines. You can view both on my Pickens page. and see more info of my generator at www.overunitybuilder.com sincerely, Daniel Quale

Thanks Ben...........I was a manufacturer's rep in the electronic industry in my early days living in Detroit and also worked as a missile tech at Chrysler Missile when I graduated from high school. I spent the rest of my life in education, teaching in the public school system. Here is a website of my ham radio activities: www.qsl.net/w8wa I will write later this afternoon to the e-mail address on your website instead of putting my e-mail address here...........Lee

Hi Ben.........Thanks for the comments. I have been interested in solar/wind/hydro energy since 1976 when I moved to this location and out of the city of Royal Oak near Detroit. I am on 6 acres of rural land in northern Michigan just a mile inland from Lake Michigan where we do have a good wind corridor. I designed and built my home in 1980 with solar gain in mind siting the home properly and exposing most of the large windows in the home south. I have a 3 panel drain down solar system that is also hooked into a Jensen wood burning furnace. This combination heats not only my domestic hot water, but the solar storage will circulate through a heat exchanger in the cold air return of the furnace (LPG) and heat the home either by solar or wood. I have been doing some upgrades to the system lately, trying to improve its efficiency. I will definitely check out your web-pages today. By the way, I also have a stream that wraps around my home for possible use with mini-hydro.

My time in Europe has mostly been to Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. My first exposure to a large wind farm outside of California was in Gniewino, Poland (former Prussian area), the town of my ancestors. Driving through Germany and seeing their commitment to wind and solar is what really blew my mind!!! Many thanks..............Lee... P.S. I am part Dutch.......thought that I was 100% German, but not so after doing some extensive genealogy research!!!

NEW MEMBERS: Thanks for joining...Please do a good deed today before you have a chance to forget or get busy with other things! Pickens can't singlehandedly solve the problem of the $700B outflow to pay for foreign oil. That is why he is asking each member to sign up 5 others members on the Pickens Plan. Surely you know at least five other people that would support a real plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil NOW... please take this to heart; the survival of our leadership position in the world and our economic prosperity at home is at stake – please contact your friends, family, neighbors and our legislators today.

PS. If Pickens succeeds all forms of alternative energy will benefit from this movement. He has a workable, achievable plan. All viable AE solutions will get a huge boost if the Plan can reach 1M members in 2008.

United we can / Undecided we fail. Please add me as a friend!

Hi E. S.,

Welcome to the Pickens Plan.

We all share the same goal; to rid ourselves of foreign oil and clean up our environment for our children and grandchildren. Wind energy is a viable alternative. Some of us have a different ideas of what we can do for immediate relief.

Join some groups, get involved and invite some of your friends to join you.

Check out our group "Live Carbon Free" and see how we are promoting conservation and environmental stewardship as the bridge to future energy developments. Regardless of what we do, it will take some time to implement on a significant scale. For immediate results we can make a huge difference by conserving what we have.

We would like for you to join our group and value your input. Feel free to add me as a friend..
