Happy New Year Matt,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Matt, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

Matt -

I am in Basrah , IRAQ right now for a 2 week assignment.. they could use wind turbnes hereas well.. not to mention solar cells...anyway, I am learning more about the industry and from what I have read and found to be true, that gasoline for travel is not the greatest form of energy consumption in the US.. by far and away, more energy is spent in heating and cooling businesses the fuel for cars and trucks... I could have been misinformed but I doubt it. HVAC for residences come next and then fuel for cars. Anyway, in a Metro Area like aAtlanta, I see numerous opportunity to upgrade business roofing with solar cells above the pine straw line and leaf debris line, etc.. and also on large warehouse where not many trees are close by in the first place, the commerical rates for electric powere are typically 70-80 % higher than residential rates and the demand curves on commerical properties is what the utilties need to design up to.. residential usage is more at night when ot's cooler, and homes use less power than businesses per square foot.

So thisis where the exisiting grid can best be used to supply solar wattage during the day when businesses need it most. this can delay future plants many years in certain areas saving millions of dollars in CAPEX work.

So when I finish my contract in Iraq, this might be an area I want tp explore in cities like ATL, DFW, and IAH, etc.. all over the sun belt. Let me know if you share an interest...

In expanding he grid lines into rural America for wind power, that is a hell of a lot of copper cable and steel towers to be erected and manitained.. will drive of the demand and the price for these basic materials.. need to recycle old cars and scrap steel to make new power poles and clean out the junk yards in the South. what do you think?

Change to a Better Design in Spark Plugs, a little like changing light bulbs, easy to do with an impact for all. Spend $40.00 - $50.00 now and save $200.00 per year on fuel.

We watched the "This Old House" that they did in Austin. I was so impressed with what Austin is doing with their Green projects that I wanted to move there.

Hi Matt,
We have been on the Advanced Green Building Products site and saw the photos. Can this be used in house construction? We watch "This Old House" and have seen them use SIP products.
